Altcoin seasonal signals are strengthening as the market dominance chart retouches the support area that existed before the previous market rebound.
The total market value outside the top ten cryptocurrencies is approximately US$162 billion, showing stable demand, but Bitcoin's dominance still needs to be further weakened.
September's CLARITY Act vote and August's CPI report may reshape liquidity expectations across the cryptocurrency market.
The altcoin season is beginning to signal, and the historical pattern repeats
Expectations for the altcoin season are heating up after the three-month dominance chart returns to the support area associated with the previous rally. Analyst MikybullCrypto called this pattern "very bullish" and believed that "a bigger market is coming."

The current altcoin dominance is approximately 7.39%, which is similar to the structure in 2017, 2021 and 2023. However, this pattern still requires confirmation signals from Bitcoin's dominance and broader market liquidity.
The seasonal pattern of altcoins echoes historical market rotations
Market data shows that the market value of cryptocurrencies after deducting the top ten assets is approximately US$162 billion. The gradual increase from US$162.181 billion to US$162.253 billion indicates that demand for small cryptocurrencies is stable.
Analyst Moustache said: "The biggest altcoin season is coming. All you need is patience." The comment reflects market expectations that a growing market value structure may support larger funding rotations.
Altcoin Sherpa highlights the speed at which cryptocurrencies can reverse. The analyst pointed out that a bullish week could erase a year-long 95% decline. This observation describes market volatility rather than confirms the arrival of altcoin season.
Stronger altcoin season signals require altcoin dominance to break through its downtrend line, while Bitcoin dominance must also weaken as liquidity shifts to small assets. Without these developments, the historical pattern would remain incomplete.
Altcoin season depends on policy and inflation signals
At the same time, the CLARITY Act could become another catalyst for the cryptocurrency market. The Senate closing debate motion will mature at 2:15 p.m. on September 15, when members will end their recess. Polymarket data shows a 21% chance of the bill becoming law in 2026. That figure has rebounded from 13% on August 5, but traders remain cautious about legislative uncertainty.
Market attention will also turn to the July Consumer Price Index released on August 12. Interest rate markets currently expect about 55% probability that interest rates will remain unchanged at 3.50% to 3.75% in September. Cooling inflation could reduce expectations of another rate hike and improve demand for risky assets. Strong inflation data may maintain tightening policy expectations and limit liquidity.
On August 9, Bitcoin and Ethereum fell 0.40% and 0.26% respectively. Most of the top 10 cryptocurrencies also fell as traders assessed policy and inflation risks.
