Interstice Digital and FalconX launched a cross-chain switching engine to open up the Canton, Ethereum, Solana and Robinhood chains.
Interstice Digital, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Everyrealm, and FalconX jointly released a cross-chain switching engine to support seamless asset swaps between Canton Network, Ethereum, Solana and Robinhood Chain.
The unmanaged engine connects institutions and public chains
The engine runs in unmanaged mode, allowing users to directly exchange assets between four networks, while Interstice neither keeps assets nor performs transactions on its behalf. This design aims to improve security by eliminating the need for users to transfer control of funds to third parties.
FalconX is a digital asset master broker serving institutional clients, providing liquidity to the platform. The exchange engine is specifically used to connect Canton Network's institutional financial markets with broader liquidity and asset pools on public chains such as Ethereum and Solana. This feature provides users with a new path that allows tokenized assets to be freely transferred between a permission-based Canton environment and a more open public chain.
Through this integration, institutional investors can bridge tokenized assets on Canton to public chains such as Ethereum and Solana without giving up asset custody rights, thereby unlocking new liquidity and trading opportunities.
Interstice did not disclose which digital assets it supported when it went online, nor did it disclose the initial transaction volume of the exchange engine. The company is backed by well-known investment institutions such as a16z Crypto, Coinbase Ventures, Galaxy and Brevan Howard.
Micro Dictionary
Canton Network -A permissioned blockchain platform focusing on the institutional market that supports the settlement and tokenization of traditional financial assets.
Institutions 'adoption of digital assets on Canton
The launch of this exchange engine coincides with the expansion of Canton Network's use among traditional financial institutions, which are interested in asset tokenization and using blockchain for settlement. In July this year, electronic trading platform Tradeweb facilitated an on-chain U.S. Treasury bond trade, and Franklin Templeton transferred a tokenized U.S. Treasury bond securities to Virtu Financial in exchange for tokenized cash.
Tradeweb is responsible for trade execution and price discovery, while Canton Network enables simultaneous real-time settlement between the two assets. The deal was described as the first real-time trading of tokenized U.S. Treasury securities settled in USDCx, a USDC-backed stablecoin issued on Canton. Participants include Societe Generale, Digital Asset and Blockdaemon.
Several institutions have carried out related projects on the Canton Network: Societe Generale has deployed euro and dollar-denominated stablecoins for tokenized collateral, repo financing and institutional settlement;Visa has used the network to test private stablecoins settlement; Mizuho Bank and Nomura Securities have launched a pilot of Japanese government bond collateral; the S & P Dow Jones Index has deployed its iBoxx U.S. Treasury bond index on Canton. These pilot projects demonstrate that Canton is playing an increasingly important role in institutional-level blockchain settlement and tokenization applications in capital markets.
