This trend has also changed the daily technical chart: $2100 has shifted from resistance to the first line of defense that buyers need to defend. The bigger test is now on the weekly chart, as Ethereum is approaching resistance levels that have not yet been broken.
Daily breakout puts $2100 below price
Before the rise, Ethereum's trading range was roughly between $1870 and $1900. The daily 50-day and 100-day simple moving averages are around $1865, while the 200-day simple moving average is at $2000.
The Ethereum daily chart shows that prices are rising rapidly and successfully recovering key resistance levels.
The price broke through the above moving average one after another, recovering the 0.5 Fibonacci level of US$1985, and then broke through the 0.618 Fibonacci level of US$2100. Ethereum also traded above the 0.786 retracement level of $2260 at one point, but as of press time, the daily candle chart had not yet closed.
This means that $2100 becomes the first line of defense that buyers need to defend during a pullback. Below it is the support band between $2000 and $1990, where the daily 200-day moving average meets the 0.5 Fibonacci level. If there is a deeper correction, the market's attention may return to the $1873 to $1900 range that suppressed Ethereum during the previous consolidation.
Weekly chart shows US$2340 to US$2400 constitutes a hindrance
Bitfinex's weekly chart shows that Ethereum is near US$2290, below all three weekly moving averages: a 200-week moving average of US$2490, a 50-week moving average of US$2620, and a 100-week moving average of US$2760.
Ethereum's weekly chart shows a decisive breakthrough in prices from a long-term downward trend.
As the chart shows, there is an area of horizontal resistance around $2340 to $2400, and a downtrend line also meets prices here. If the weekly closing price is above this region, the daily Fibonacci level of $2470 and the weekly 200-day moving average of $2490 will become the next area of intense resistance.
Can Ethereum hit $2500?
Ethereum first needs to turn the breakthrough bit into confirmation support. If the pullback can hold above $2260, it means that the 0.786 Fibonacci level has transformed from resistance to a base for another upswing. The stronger confirmation signal comes from weekly closing prices above the $2340 to $2400 resistance zone.
Broader market trends are also important. Ethereum is fluctuating in sync with gains in Bitcoin, Solana and XRP, which provides a broader context for risk appetite for gains rather than letting Ethereum break through resistance alone. This does not guarantee a continuation of the rally, but reduces the risk of Ethereum trying to break through when other parts of the market weaken.
$2500 will still be a challenge. The daily Fibonacci level of $2470 and the weekly 200-day moving average of $2490 are only $20 apart, forming a narrow resistance cluster where the recent 19% gain could be profit-taking. Entering the zone in itself does not confirm a larger weekly reversal; Ethereum needs to hold the zone first before the higher weekly moving averages ($2620 and $2760) become the focus of attention.
What should the chart show next
Ethereum price behavior and technical signals
Price behavior--technical signals
Weekly closing above $2400-will activate the 2470 - 2490 resistance zone
pullback and hold above $2260-will keep Ethereum above the 0.786 Fibonacci level
lose $2100-will expose the 2000 - 1990 support band
lose $1990--The consolidation range of US$1870 to US$1900 will be reopened
Daily movements have put Ethereum on all three daily moving averages. The next verification point is even higher: whether the market can stand above the $2340 to $2400 resistance zone at the weekly close and not lose $2100 during the pullback.
