ETH led gains, with two major assets extending Wednesday's gains

Ethereum ($ETH) rose 15.38%, outperforming Bitcoin ($BTC), and the two major cryptocurrencies continued the strong rebound that began on Wednesday. ETH traded at US$2,206.65 and had a market value of US$266.3 billion. Its 24-hour trading volume surged 205.28% to US$21.15 billion, indicating a high level of enthusiasm among participants behind the trend.

$BTC rose 6.98% to US$69,074.87, and trading volume increased 101.65% to US$38.77 billion. Both trading volume data reflect a significant increase in market activity, with $ETH's trading volume more than tripling on the day.

Compared with the price 24 hours ago, it better reflects the magnitude of this fluctuation. Before the rally kicked off, Ethereum was trading close to $1913 and Bitcoin was close to $64620. Earlier this week, Bitcoin opened at US$64,602.32 and Ethereum at US$1,906.96, basically in line with previous levels.

Ethereum led the seven-day gain, surpassing Bitcoin

The excellent performance is not limited to a single day. In the past seven days,$ETH has risen 17.24%, while $BTC has risen 8.94%, a gap that highlights the recent tilt in market momentum towards Ethereum.

Institutional demand played a role in this, with the spot Ethereum ETF recording significant capital inflows and short covering also boosting the rally. In addition, the trend has benefited from a broader recovery sparked by last week's below-expected jobs report, which lowered expectations for further interest rate hikes, an environment that typically favors risky assets such as $ETH.

In addition, Bitcoin and Ethereum prices have also responded positively to the proposed crypto regulatory rules announced by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The rules include providing a financing framework for crypto companies and defining exemptions from registration requirements for two crypto-related investment contracts, measures that will benefit mature networks such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The U.S. spot Ethereum ETF currently manages a total of approximately US$13.7 billion in assets, providing institutional support for $ETH in recent fluctuations.
