Weekly net inflows of U.S. spot bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs reached US$2.6 billion, a record high since October last year.
U.S. spot bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) last week attracted a total of US$2.6 billion in net inflows, setting the strongest weekly performance since October last year. At the same time, trading volume on these products tripled, reflecting accelerating demand for regulated cryptocurrency exposure.
This wave of capital inflows directly confirms Bitcoin's investment logic: ETF products are still the main channel for institutions to obtain price exposure without having to hold UTXO or manage their own custody. Last week, net inflows of Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs hit a record high since October last year, and net inflows of funds occurred for several consecutive days.
Highlights on the surge in US$2.6 billion ETF inflows
Size of inflows: Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs combined net inflows last week were US$2.6 billion.
Timing node: This is the strongest weekly capital inflow cycle since October last year.
This size echoes a stage in the previous cycle, when similar funds recorded a net inflow of US$2.3 billion in a similar "biggest week since October." This time the data has exceeded this level, and the trend of net inflows for two consecutive days in mid-week indicates that demand is continuing to accumulate rather than fading.
What a three-fold increase in trading volume means for ETFs
The trading volume of these products tripled during the same period, further supporting the trend of capital inflows. Trading volume measures the turnover of fund units, while net inflows reflect the actual amount of new funds. Although there are differences between the two, the simultaneous rise means that market participation is broader rather than being supported by a few large transactions.
The increase in turnover rates and the creation of new fund shares indicate that more accounts are entering and leaving these funds, rather than a few large households adjusting their positions. This pattern is consistent with the above-mentioned reports that capital inflows have accelerated for two consecutive days, that is, capital flows have increased day by day.
What this momentum may mean for Bitcoin
Bitcoin and Ethereum products are both participating in this trend, and the common trend of both suggests that institutional interest in these two major crypto assets is heating up again. Regarding Bitcoin specifically, the continued creation of ETF shares means that custodians need to buy and hold spot bitcoins, tightening the available supply on exchanges. Similar developments have occurred in previous rallies.
Judging from the published capital inflow and transaction volume data alone, it can be concluded that demand for regulated exposure is rising, and demand for both major assets is growing at the same time. This is different from a single-day surge in funds-for example, a Bitcoin ETF recorded its largest single-day net inflow since May, with BlackRock products accounting for 83% of the total; or on a more regular trading day, spot funds had a net inflow of $685 million in a single day.
The creation of continuous shares of this scale can be verified through the spot Bitcoin ETF fund flow monitoring platform and directly strengthens the monetary attributes of Bitcoin: Bitcoin transferred to long-term custody of the ETF is separated from the active circulation of the exchange, and under the current supply mechanism of halving the reward for every 210,000 blocks, fixed supply scarcity, the core foundation that supports the network value proposition, has been further consolidated.
