T. Rowe Price launches the first actively managed multi-token spot cryptocurrency ETF

T. Rowe Price, which has $1.89 trillion in assets under management, has launched its first cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF), giving investors access to Bitcoin and other mainstream digital assets through a single product.

Active cryptocurrency ETF and its investment portfolio composition

This is only named T. The new fund of the Rowe Price Active Crypto ETF is listed on the New York Stock Exchange Arca under the trading symbol TKNZ. The company said that this is currently the first actively managed multi-token spot ETF for investors on the market.

TKNZ's investment portfolio is mainly allocated to Bitcoin and Ethereum, accounting for 40.75% and 18.42% of its positions respectively. Other assets include Solana, XRP, Hyperliquid, Dogecoin and BNB, providing investors with diversified exposure to the broader cryptocurrency market.

T. Rowe Price first submitted an approval application for the product to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in October 2025. The ETF targets individuals who want to gain multiple regulated channels of cryptocurrencies through a managed structure, eliminating the barriers posed by direct custody of digital assets.

T. Blue Macellari, head of digital assets at Rowe Price, said: "By launching T. The Rowe Price Active Crypto ETF gives investors access to a carefully screened and professionally managed multi-currency portfolio, which helps eliminate speculation when building their own cryptocurrency configurations." Company representatives described the fund as the company's "first product" in the digital asset space, hinting that more cryptocurrency-related investment vehicles may be launched in the future.

(Note: T. Rowe Price is a well-known U.S. investment management company that provides a wide range of mutual funds, retirement solutions and institutional management services.)

Asset allocation ( %): Bitcoin 40.75%, Ethereum 18.42%, others (Solana, XRP, Hyperliquid, Dogcoin, BNB) are the rest.

Cryptocurrency ETF Industry Trends

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved Bitcoin ETFs from well-known companies such as BlackRock, Fidelity and Gray in January 2024, marking a major turning point for the industry after years of rejection. The funds have set new records for successful issuance and currently manage billions of dollars in assets. Following the Bitcoin ETF, spot Ethereum ETF and other altcoin products have successively entered the eyes of investors in the United States and Europe. These developments have broadened the appeal of cryptocurrencies, allowing more traditional investors and Wall Street institutions to gain exposure without directly processing digital assets. Investing in cryptocurrencies through regulated ETFs simplifies issues such as private key management and token storage, alleviating previous concerns of institutional and retail investors.

Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart commented that the launch of TKNZ during the market downturn shows that traditional asset management companies are continuing to deploy the encryption field even if prices fall, and the product has been under development for many years.

Regulatory environment and market integration

President Donald Trump's administration has adopted a more relaxed approach to digital asset regulation, leading to the withdrawal of multiple previous lawsuits and investigations by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission against cryptocurrency companies. This shift makes it easier for financial institutions to combine crypto solutions with traditional products, such as using Bitcoin ETFs to lend or as collateral for mainstream assets. As a result, more investors can now enter the crypto market by trading standard stocks on mature exchanges, allowing digital assets to be more firmly integrated into the broader financial system.
