Cryptocurrency insight: Robinhood's huge SHIB position is closely related to T. Rowe Price's new ETF is included in Shiba Inu
Robinhood, a well-known zero-commission brokerage platform in the United States, has become an important holder of Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens. The number of SHIBs it holds is staggering, exceeding 39.27 trillion, accounting for approximately 3.93% of the total supply of SHIBs and approximately US$161.8 million at current value. Despite its large holdings, Robinhood is not the largest custodian of SHIB.
Who holds the largest share of SHIB?
The largest portion of the SHIB is located in a so-called "destruction address" that is inaccessible to the owner or operator, which effectively removes these tokens from circulation. This address alone holds more than 410 trillion SHIBs, meaning that 41.04% of the total supply is permanently locked in, worth nearly US$1.69 billion.
In addition to the importance of destroying addresses, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin donated a large amount of SHIB in May 2021. He transferred more than 410 trillion SHIBs, valued at about $6.7 billion at the time, to the destruction site, a move that boosted Shiba Inu's deflationary prospects because the tokens were permanently excluded from circulation.
Destruction addresses not only represent the largest single wallet, but also play a central role in SHIB's deflationary policies, making large numbers of tokens permanently inaccessible.
What is the current distribution of SHIB?
In addition to Robinhood and destruction addresses, the rest of Shiba Inu's supply is scattered among various wallets, including exchanges and private investors. These different holders (excluding whale accounts) account for 58.06% of SHIB's circulation. The whale address accounts for only a small portion of ownership, indicating that the token is widely distributed among various types of holders.
Destruction addresses hold the largest share, accounting for 41.04% of SHIB.
Robinhood's important positions account for approximately 3.93%.
The remaining 58.06% are distributed in exchanges and private wallets, with varying values.
A significant development in the digital asset space is T. Rowe Price has launched an innovative financial product. The well-known asset manager has launched an actively managed cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF) called T. Rowe Price Active Crypto ETF (TKNZ), which includes Shiba Inu in its diversified portfolio.
The ETF is currently trading, providing investors with an unprecedented opportunity to participate in multiple digital currency investments through one fund. This marks a major progress in the integration of cryptocurrencies and traditional financial markets, and further demonstrates the widespread adoption trend of digital assets.
Based on the latest market developments, Shiba Inu's offer fell and traded at US$0.00000413. The decline occurred amid a broader market correction, which was affected by the decline in Asian semiconductor stocks, and affected the entire digital asset sector. The cryptocurrency market is in a consolidation stage, and the Fear and Greed Index shows widespread investor concern.
