After eight consecutive weeks of drastic and large-scale capital withdrawals, the spot Bitcoin ETF changed direction in mid-July, and now has another week of gains, continuing the recovery trend. However, funds tracking the largest altcoins have outstripped market leaders in terms of weekly net inflows.
Bitcoin ETF's rising wave continues
Perhaps affected by the escalation of tensions in the Middle East over the weekend, spot Bitcoin ETF showed a net outflow of up to US$424.66 million at the beginning of Monday, the largest single-day withdrawal since June 26. As a result, the good news of the previous week seems to have become a flash in the pan and difficult to reproduce. However, over the next four days, investor behavior changed and new money began to pour in. Data from SoValue showed $181 million in inflows on Tuesday,$107.8 million on Wednesday,$79.15 million on Thursday, and $132.3 million on Friday. As a result, the weekend ended with a rising net inflow of US$75.67 million. Still, these numbers are far less than the period of large-scale capital outflows from mid-May to early July. In five of the eight weeks, investors withdrew $1 billion or more, with a net outflow of $1.79 billion recorded in the week ended June 26, the second-highest. Overall, the funds lost more than $8 billion in about two months. Cumulative total net inflows plummeted from US$59.34 billion to US$51.08 billion, and then rebounded to US$51.35 billion on July 17.
Ethereum ETF performs better
Although financial products tracking Bitcoin attracted just over $75 million last week, funds tracking the largest altcoins performed better. The net inflow of spot Ethereum ETF was US$105.44 million, continuing the previous week's momentum of US$84.42 million. The decline also closed down on Monday, but by a smaller margin, with investors withdrawing $15.41 million. There was a net outflow of $28.04 million on Thursday, but inflows of $58.34 million on Tuesday,$53.83 million on Wednesday and $36.73 million on Friday offset all losses. Similar to the Bitcoin ETF, the Ethereum ETF also experienced eight consecutive weeks of decline, during which the cumulative total net inflow loss exceeded US$1.1 billion, falling from US$12.09 billion to US$10.89 billion. However, after rising for two consecutive weeks in mid-July, the figure has rebounded to $11.08 billion.
