Corporate giants adopt different strategies towards Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH)! Details and Updates
Strategy suspends Bitcoin purchases
As the largest institutional Bitcoin holder, Strategy continues to suspend its Bitcoin purchases. After selling large quantities of bitcoin in recent weeks, the giant company has not made any new bitcoin purchases for two consecutive weeks.
Currently, Strategy announced that it also did not make any Bitcoin purchases last week.
According to Strategy founder Michael Saylor, the company sold $466.7 million worth of MSTR shares but did not buy any bitcoins.
Strategy sold 2.73 million shares of MSTR stock between July 13 and July 19, with a net income of $263.5 million, according to a filing.
Strategy continues to follow its digital credit capital plan announced in late June, while also continuing to strengthen its U.S. dollar reserves.
In this context, the company did not make any Bitcoin purchases during the week, but increased its U.S. dollar reserves. Accordingly, the company's US dollar reserves rose to approximately US$3.23 billion, while as of July 20, 2026, the number of bitcoins it held remained at 843,775.
Ethereum purchases continue!
While Strategy chose to suspend purchases of bitcoins, BitMine, the largest Ethereum reserve company, continued its weekly purchase and added 7430 Ethereum pieces to its reserves.
BitMine, led by Tom Lee, announced that it purchased 7430 Ethereum units in the past week. The purchase brought the company's total holdings to 5.777468 million Ethereum units, accounting for approximately 4.8% of the total Ethereum supply.
The company added that it had pledged 4.92 million Ethereum shares, accounting for approximately 85% of its total assets, while repurchasing 5.5 million shares at an average price of $15.62 per share.
According to reports, the company's total cryptocurrency, cash and other investments has reached US$11.5 billion.
Tom Lee said: "We purchased 7430 Ethereum units last week. The slowdown in purchasing was due to BitMine buying back 5.5 million shares of common stock. We believe that the repurchase of common shares will have a positive impact on shareholder value."
Since the launch of the Ethereum Reserve Strategy on June 30, 2025, BitMine has continued to purchase Ethereum every week.
In addition, BitMine has pledged more Ethereum than any other institution in the world.
