After eight months of silence, whale address 0x446B sold 8010 Ethereum pieces.
On July 24, 2026, an Ethereum wallet marked as 0x446B cleared all its ETH holdings, selling 8010 Ethereum pieces (worth approximately US$15.11 million) into open market liquidity. On-chain data analysis platform Lookonchain confirmed the deal and noted that the wallet had been completely silent for eight months before it suddenly exited.
The sell-off resulted in an actual loss of US$10.8 million, equivalent to a 37% retracement of the entity's original cost basis. Data shows that the wallet opened a position at an average cost much higher than the current price, and after a long period of hibernation, it finally left the market at a price much lower than the entry point.
General trend of losses for Ethereum whales
The exit of 0x446B is not an isolated case. Lookonchain's data in early July showed that another whale sold 2468 Ethereums at an average price of $1572, resulting in a loss of $4.33 million-the whale originally purchased these Ethereums at a price of $3327 per share. The total cost was $8.21 million, but the sale only earned $3.88 million.
This model reflects a difficult year for long-term Ethereum owners. According to Lookonchain data, a whale that has held 9389 Ethereum pieces for nearly four years currently has a floating loss of US$23.8 million. The current trading price of Ethereum is approximately US$1780, a cumulative decline of approximately 32% during the year.
However, not all large companies are selling in panic. The massive extraction of Ethereum from centralized exchanges is often seen by the market as a bullish signal. In recent weeks, another batch of whales has been moving ETH from exchanges to pledge rather than sell. Ethereum's pledge rate has reached a record 33.9%, equivalent to about one-third of the network's circulation supply. The divergence between those who left at a loss and those who continued to increase their holdings highlights the uncertainty of the current price outlook for Ethereum.
