Shiba Inu chief ambassador Shytoshi Kusama remains silent on platform X for 74 days
Shiba Inu community noted that Shiba project chief spokesperson Shytoshi Kusama has remained silent on platform X for 74 days, one of the longest periods of social media inactivity to date.
Kusama's long absence and project focus
Kusama used to interact with Shiba Inu supporters through regular updates, hints in his profile, and even live broadcasts on the X platform, which has always been his main channel for releasing progress related to this popular memoin. His current silence began on May 13 and has since stopped posting or interacting on X. Previously, between the end of 2025 and 2026, there have been similar long-term inactivity, indicating that he has the habit of periodically staying away from the public eye. In January this year, Kusama attributed his low profile to the fact that he was developing an independent artificial intelligence project and revealed that at the time, his main focus was on the progress of the project.
Despite Kusama's absence, speculation within the Shiba Inu community is growing that he may bring updates or announcements soon, as he used to return after an interval with new news. However, as of now, officials have not hinted that a major update is imminent.
Community-driven SHIB destruction campaign
While Kusama remains inactive, a community-initiated SHIB destruction campaign continues. On-chain tracker Shibburn reported that 7.15 million SHIB tokens were destroyed in the past 24 hours, a 66% increase in the average daily destruction rate. A total of 60.58 million SHIBs were destroyed in the past seven days, bringing the total number destroyed in 30 days to 288.61 million. Robinhood, a major U.S. trading platform, sent 152,792,823 SHIBs to so-called "dead wallets" through 106 independent transactions, becoming the main force of monthly destruction.
Destruction status at each time period: 7.15 million pieces were destroyed within 24 hours, completed by the community; 60.58 million pieces were destroyed within 7 days, completed by the community; 288.61 million pieces were destroyed within 30 days, mainly destroyed by Robinhood, involving 106 transactions. As of now, the cumulative total number of SHIB destroyed has reached 410,840,455,020,349 pieces, completed through 21,280 independent transactions. Among them, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin destroyed 410 trillion SHIBs in May 2021, significantly reducing the circulation supply.
Even in the lack of leadership updates, the Shiba Inu community remains active destruction operations, with millions of SHIBs being removed from circulation every week, and mainstream platforms such as Robinhood are also involved in large-scale destruction transactions.
