Uniswap launches license pool to upgrade on-chain compliant transactions
Uniswap Labs introduced "Permitted Pools" for Uniswap v4 on Thursday, adding a new hook standard that allows regulated assets to be traded through automated market makers, while implementing compliance directly on the chain. According to the official blog, the first batch of partners include Superstate, Securitize and Dowgo, while the existing unlicensed Uniswap v4 pool continues to operate normally without any changes.
New standards integrate compliance into the protocol itself
According to Uniswap Labs, license pools migrate compliance checks from the front end to the inside of the protocol. Unlike relying on off-chain verification, the pool confirms whether the wallet appears on the issuer managed whitelist before performing a swap or liquidity operation. This hook checks wallet qualifications at each transaction and before users create a liquidity position. It also contains the management controls required for regulated assets, and all verification is done directly on the chain.
It is worth noting that the system utilizes Uniswap v4 's virtual account mechanism for remote exchange calculations, and the license assets are always stored in the license contract throughout the process.
Initial partners target tokenization market
The first launches include Superstate, Securitize and Dowgo, which jointly participated in the development of different parts of the framework. According to Uniswap Labs, these companies focus on tokenized funds, securities, stocks and other regulated digital assets. Superstate provides support for the design of tokenized funds and stocks;Uniswap Labs has worked with Securitize to ensure that tokens issued by DS Protocol can be traded in compliance;Dowgo has integrated the ERC-3643 standard for the license pool and plans to use the standard after obtaining DLT TSS authorization under the EU DLT pilot system.
The unlicensed pool remains unchanged
Uniswap Labs stated that the license pool expands transaction options without changing the unlicensed structure of the agreement. Developers and publishers can either continue to deploy the standard Uniswap v4 pool or choose a license pool for regulated assets. The company stated that issuers retain control of the investor whitelist, while approved participants have direct on-chain access to the liquidity of automated market makers. Uniswap also cited a forecast that the tokenized asset market could reach US$11 trillion by 2030, and described the new framework as an infrastructure built specifically for transactions on the compliance chain.
