The 4-hour chart shows a similar pattern. Bitcoin failed in two tests of $82,000, resulting in the price remaining around $80,400.

On the daily chart, the larger trend remains intact. Bitcoin is still above the bottom zone it established in August at the mid-point of $75,000.

The moving average remains bullish, and momentum indicators cool down

Of the 15 moving averages tracked on the daily chart, 13 are positive. Bitcoin is traded above every EMA (exponential moving average) and SMA (simple moving average) listed, with cycles ranging from 10 to 200 periods.

The only bearish signal came from the fast Hull moving average of $81,075. This level is slightly higher than current prices.

Oscillator indicators tell a relatively calm story. The RSI (Relative Strength Index) is at a level of 61 and is considered neutral; the MACD (Smoothing Similarities and Differences Moving Average) reading is negative.

Taken together, these indicators suggest that the market is "breathing" rather than a trend reversal. A larger upward trend since a low of $57,735 earlier this year remains unbroken.

Institutional data sends mixed signals
