Ripple CEO's comments on Elizabeth Warren at the 2026 Wyoming Blockchain Symposium
Ripple CEO Brad Garinhaus was outspoken at the 2026 Wyoming Blockchain Symposium in Jackson Hole. At the invite-only event hosted by SALT and Kraken, he took aim at the political opposition that has shrouded the cryptocurrency industry for years.
The CEO is unambiguous about Senator Elizabeth Warren. "Elizabeth Warren made up lies," he said."Everything she said about cryptocurrencies, it was false. This is a provable lie." Cryptocurrency commentator BankXRP took note of Garlinhaus's comment and called it "the best quote of the year."
Warren's past record
Galinghaus's anger is based on reality. Warren has been opposing the CLARITY Act on Capitol Hill for months, calling it "an insult to the American people" and accusing the cryptocurrency industry of drafting the bill for its own benefit. Her aides released a formal analysis saying the bill's ethics provisions were "full of significant loopholes." She has raised the same concerns in multiple cryptocurrency legislation-corruption, consumer protection, national security and economic risks.
She used the same argument to oppose the GENIUS Act, but the bill was eventually passed. The CLARITY bill missed its August recess deadline after Senate Majority Leader Thuan used available plenary meeting time for another unrelated bill. The next voting opportunity will be in September.
The scale behind the industry
At the same seminar, Galinghaus elaborated on the reality of the business operations that Ripple has built in his session titled "Modern Financial Infrastructure." Through the acquisition of Hidden Road and G-Treasury in 2025, Ripple currently handles annual transactions of US$16 trillion. He called it "the size of Visa." Among them, only 0.1% of the trading volume is currently settled on-chain. Every 0.1% increase in on-chain settlement represents $160 billion in new on-chain transactions, and increasing this ratio is at the heart of Ripple's goal.
He also describes the changing climate of institutional dialogue. CFOs and treasurers are now contacting Ripple directly to ask how to make the idle liquidity work. He drew a clear distinction between such institutional-level practicality and what he considered unsustainable activities. "If it's just speculation or memecoin, it's not sustainable," he said.
Background analysis
Galinghaus's comments on Warren came at a critical moment. The CLARITY Act has stalled, and Warren remains one of its most outspoken opponents. Ripple, led by Garlinhaus, handles US$16 trillion in annual transactions, and corporate customers are raising serious business operational issues about blockchain infrastructure.
His position is that the gap between Warren's remarks about cryptocurrencies and what the industry actually does is not a matter of interpretation. In his words, this is a "provable lie."
