BTC A Coinbase-backed cryptocurrency advocacy group is sending a clear signal to lawmakers: If you vote against us, pay for it on the ballot. Hours after the Senate failed to advance the Clarity Act on September 15, 2026, Stand With Crypto vowed revenge in the midterm elections and warned its supporters that they would remember which officials had blocked passage of the bill. The group's statement was blunt and carefully timed. According to the organization, millions of votes were involved in the game.
What happened to the Clarity Act?
The Clarity Act stalled before procedural obstacles. Decrypt reported that the Senate failed to pass the "closing debate" vote needed to move the digital asset market structure bill into full review.
"Closing arguments" are a gatekeeping step, not a final verdict. The measure required 60 votes to move forward, but there were not enough votes. This means that the bill was not completely dead, but failed to enter the full house vote stage to decide whether to pass it.
