DOT Polkadot promotes the launch of native stablecoin dotUSD
Polkadot is gradually approaching the launch of its own native stablecoin. Currently, the network's decentralized governance system OpenGov is voting on $dotUSD.$ dotUSD is an asset proposal pegged to the U.S. dollar and is intended to be owned by the agreement itself, rather than by any private issuer.
What is dotUSD?
The proposal was submitted in the form of "OpenGov Referendum No. 1944" to create dotUSD as an asset owned by the agreement and designate it as Polkadot's native stable value tool.
This proposal is important because Polkadot's applications and treasury operations currently rely on external stablecoins. Introducing native stablecoins would not only reduce this dependence, but also allow $DOT to play a direct role in mortgage lending and liquidity.
Theproposal divides its promotion into two phases: first, launching a simpler version supported by the USDT-based, and then transitioning to the DOT mortgage model that developers have long intended to adopt.
In the first stage, users will use USDT to cast dotUSD on a one-to-one ratio, with a supply limit. This release does not require the oracle, mortgage vault or clearing system planned for use in subsequent DOT support models.
The second phase will introduce DOT-backed mortgage vaults, oracle machines, stable pools, clearing mechanisms and redemption mechanisms. In return for providing capital, stable pool participants will receive liquidated DOT at a discounted price, while the corresponding dotUSD will be destroyed to offset outstanding debt.

截至目前，该提案获得了强有力的支持，赞成票占比高达 97.6%，反对票仅占 2.4%。共有约 239 万枚 $DOT 来自 31 名投出赞成票的选民，而反对票仅来自 9 名选民，总计约 59,900 枚 DOT。
该提案由 Polkadot 生态系统的社区成员起草，并通过 Polkadot 社区基金会（PCF）提交。PCF 的作用仅限于将提案提交投票，它将不部署、运营、控制或托管 dotUSD。
这并非 Polkadot 社区首次推动本土化稳定币的发展。此前，另一个名为 pUSD 的 DOT 支持稳定币提案在 2025 年获得了超过 75% 的支持率，并锁定了超过 560 万美元的 DOT 承诺，这表明 Polkadot 市场对原生美元资产的需求已酝酿已久。
此次稳定币提案的提出，也紧随 Polkadot 改变 $DOT 经济模型的举措之后，其中包括引入固定的最大供应量。2025 年 9 月，DAO 批准了 21 亿枚 DOT 的上限，取代了该网络此前无限制发行的模式。
