Hunter Biden's "LAPTOP" token fell sharply, sparking political controversy.
Hunter Biden's recently launched memecoin project $LAPTOP turned into a warning case less than an hour after it went on the market. The coin's price plunged nearly 98% from its opening high, triggering a new round of political debate.
According to online data, there are two independent purchases of 100,000 USDC, and the receiving wallet received approximately 399.7 and 519.7 LAPTOP tokens respectively. This means that the average buying price is approximately $218 per token. However, the position quickly depreciated, and its value fell to approximately $3,000 according to Lookonchain data;DeBank subsequently assessed the value of the 919 LAPTOP tokens held in the wallet to be approximately $4,675.
Blockchain analysis company Bubblemaps called the offering a "bloody massacre" and pointed out on platform X that the vast majority of traders ended up losing money.
Hunter Biden denies involvement, accusing the "sniper" robot
Hunter Biden's project party refuted the accusation of "rug pull", insisting that the tokens held by his team are still locked and that Hunter himself has not profited from them. Instead, he blamed technical glitches and speculative "sniper" robots that pre-empted liquidity providers, and accused traditional media of distorting the facts.
However, on-chain tracking data tells a different story. According to reports, a wallet related to the project received 100 million LAPTOP tokens a week before the launch, accounting for about one-tenth of the total supply; and after the transaction opened, the wallet sold more than 42 million tokens.
Eric Trump hits back: Suggest Biden return to painting
On the eve of its release, Hunter Biden defended $LAPTOP memecoin while insinuating Donald Trump's $TRUMP token. He said he understood the general public's skepticism about memecoin and noted that Trump "undermined trust in everything he touched." In response, Eric Trump, co-founder of World Liberty Financial and son of Donald Trump, responded with a sentence on Platform X, suggesting Biden should go back to painting. The irony echoed Biden's career as an artist after his recovery.
"Hunter should go back to painting." He posted on platform X.
Part of the revenue is intended to be rewarded to users who have been "burned" by Trump tokens.
It is worth noting that part of $LAPTOP is positioned as an olive branch, with 20% of its supply reserved specifically for wallet addresses that have suffered losses due to the Trump family's own memecoin (i.e., the tokens have been destroyed).
Previously, Hunter Biden cited data showing that nearly 1 million wallets associated with $TRUMP collectively lost nearly $3.8 billion. In contrast, he said 20% of the $LAPTOP tokens would be airdropped to the community, including those who were "burned" by the $TRUMP token. The other 30% is linked to a mechanism where, depending on real-world results, the tokens are either destroyed or donated to charity, of which 50 million will be used for charitable purposes anyway.
