Dogecoin ETF closes, Bitwise BWOW holders withdraw in October

Bitwise expects trading in the Dogecoin ETF to end on October 14, with automatic cash distribution scheduled for October 22.

The issuer said the move is aimed at adapting to changing investor needs; the US$9 billion in assets it reported represent the company's overall assets, not the size of the BWOW (Bitwise Dogecoin ETF) positions. Despite the four-hour technical buy signal, this contrasts with the recent decline in DOGE prices and does not confirm that the market will recover.

Bitwise will shut down the Dogecoin ETF less than a year after it launched the product in November 2025. The asset management company announced the decision on September 10 and set a final trading day and a date for cash distribution. BWOW investors can sell their shares before the deal closes or wait for automatic clearing payments. Bitwise attributed the closure to efforts to align its products with changing investor needs.

Dogecoin ETF is closed to determine October trading and payment dates

October 14 is the last expected trading day for Dogecoin ETF on NYSE Arca. Shareholders can sell their holdings before the close of the session, after which the fund will cease to operate.

Bitwise is shutting down its $BWOW Dogecoin ETF

BWOW will be launched in November 2025 and will cease trading on October 14, 2026. The asset size under management (AUM) is approximately US$688 million, and the cumulative net inflow is approximately US$1.23 million. This clearly indicates weak demand for this particular DOGE investment product. Approval of the ETF does not mean that...

Grayscale's GDOG leads with assets of US$8.61 million and cumulative net inflows of US$11.7 million. At the same time, 21Shares 'TDOG holds US$2.53 million, with a cumulative net inflow of US$1.63 million. Data from the Dogecoin ETF highlights the difference between BWOW's capital outflows and the positive cumulative balance in this category. The $9 billion reported separately by Bitwise represents the company's overall client assets, not the fund's positions.

Meanwhile, during the reporting period accompanying the closure announcement, DOGE was trading at close to $0.084. The closure of the Dogecoin ETF coincides with the weak period of the token, but has not established a causal relationship between the two.

In addition, Ali Charts reported a TD Sequential buy signal on the four-hour chart. Analysts cited the previous three signals and rebounded by 6.96%, 2.71% and 11.25% respectively. These historical trends do not confirm another rebound.
