ETH Ethereum: ETF inflows boost prospects, with $2800 becoming key resistance level
Ethereum is currently trading around $2690, once again failing to establish a decisive trend to break through the $2800 resistance level. This level has become a central focus of Ethereum's recovery and its continued attempt to outperform Bitcoin's performance.
Institutional capital inflows and relative performance
This summer, Ethereum's performance surpassed Bitcoin. Richard Salmond's analysis shows that from early June to mid-September, ETH rose by about 25%, while Bitcoin rose by only 5%. Salmond attributed the trend to large capital inflows and recent improvements in Ethereum's network design and institutional appeal.
Despite its growth, Ethereum's market has not been smooth sailing. Driven by demand from exchange-traded funds (ETFs), increased liquidity and the covering of short positions, Bitcoin recently climbed to an eight-month high of more than $87000. The move undermines Ethereum's previous lead and suggests that funds can quickly be redirected back to Bitcoin as broader market sentiment shifts.
Ethereum has repeatedly encountered resistance at the US$2800 mark. Coinpaper's latest analysis points out that after several attempts, it is difficult for Ethereum to achieve a convincing close above this level.
ETF capital inflows and technical outlook
Institutional demand continues to provide support for Ethereum. On September 25, the U.S. spot Ethereum ETF recorded a net inflow of US$87 million, with BlackRock's ETHA products leading the way. This echoed significant capital inflows over the previous week and several days.

If Ethereum can recover and remain above $2800, while Bitcoin remains below recent highs, ETH may continue its relative outperforming trend. If it fails to break through, Bitcoin could regain the momentum it lost over the summer, eroding Ethereum's lead.
Reuters technical analysis recently identified a bullish continuation pattern after ETH broke through about US$2661. If momentum remains, the potential path points to US$3050. The analysis also pointed out that $2775 to $2825 is an immediate consolidation range.
Currently, Ethereum has maintained the strength it has been holding against Bitcoin for months, but as Bitcoin attempts to make a comeback, it remains questionable whether this advantage will continue.
