DOGE faces upward short pressure: Short-term positions climb and momentum weakens
As short-term short positions increase and market momentum weakens, Dogecoin is facing increasing short pressure. The chart pattern shows a rising wedge of diffusion structure, implying that prices may move downward towards key support areas. If the key resistance level of $0.1055 can be exceeded, the current bearish outlook may ease.
After a week of continuous declines, Dogecoin has entered a critical stage. The popular memecoin is currently trading at close to US$0.090, and traders are focusing on key support levels. Selling pressure continues to increase, while bullish momentum continues to fade. A number of technical indicators have signaled caution, while chart patterns also point to the possibility of larger fluctuations in the future. Whether Dogecoin finds support or further breaks down will determine the next market trend.
Shorts control the situation, selling pressure intensifies
Dogecoin fell more than 5% this week, and this decline continues the correction trend that began in late September. During this period, market sentiment changed significantly. CoinGlass data showed that short positions have hit a month-high. The long-short ratio is currently at 0.68, a reading that suggests more traders are expecting further price declines. CryptoQuant's data also supports this bearish view.
Both the spot and futures markets showed signs of overheating, and the activity of large whales in futures markets was also biased towards sellers. Prices are currently trading below the 200-day exponential moving average (EMA), which is around $0.093. However, Dogecoin remains above the 50th and 100th moving averages, with these support levels around $0.088 and $0.086 respectively. Buyers have so far managed to hold on to this range, but if it falls below $0.085, the situation could quickly reverse.
Technical indicators also show signs of weakening momentum. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is located near 48, indicating that kinetic energy is below the neutral threshold. The MACD indicator remains slightly negative. These two signals together reflect a weakening of buying power. Bulls need stronger momentum to regain control.
Diffusion wedges point to additional risk
Another chart pattern has attracted traders 'attention. Dogecoin is currently traded in an ascending wedge of diffusion channel. This pattern usually signals increased uncertainty. The lower boundary of the channel is near the current trading range and a break below this support level could trigger additional selling. The price may then test $0.0871, and further weakness may push Dogecoin to $0.0828. The deepest support area is between $0.076 and $0.077.
Such a decline would bring nearly 20% downside from the current position. The momentum on the chart has also cooled, with the daily RSI recently falling to 57. This reading suggests that bullish forces have waned. If prices can move above $0.1055, the bearish argument will be weakened. A rebound that breaks the upper boundary of the wedge chart will improve market sentiment and buyers will gain a stronger technical advantage.
In addition, Dogcoin also faces broader sector challenges. Compared with altcoins, the market dominance of memecoins has dropped to historical lows. This trend reflects weakening investor interest in the sector. Currently, dogcoin is at an important crossroads. Despite rising short pressure, support remains solid. Decisive developments at current levels could emerge soon, and traders will be watching closely for the next development of the situation.
