Capital.com will launch spot cryptocurrency trading in United Arab Emirates after being licensed
Trading platform and contract for difference broker Capital.com is preparing to launch spot cryptocurrency services to United Arab Emirates customers. Previously, its affiliated company Capital Vault had obtained a virtual asset license issued by the United Arab Emirates Capital Markets Authority.
Virtual asset license approved
With the new license, Capital Vault is authorized to act as an agent or primary counterparty in virtual asset transactions and provide custody services to United Arab Emirates customers. This development will allow local users to purchase and hold real cryptocurrency directly through the Capital.com application.
Unlike Capital.com 's existing CFDs products-which only expose users to cryptocurrency price fluctuations but do not confer asset ownership-the upcoming spot trading service will allow investors to directly control and custody their digital assets. Capital Vault will be responsible for the execution, custody and settlement of these spot services.
The group confirmed that Capital Vault operates as a fully independent and regulated entity with governance structure, custody arrangements and risk management systems that remain independent of the other business segments of Capital.com
Local expansion and regulatory changes
Capital Vault has opened a new office in Abu Dhabi and formed a dedicated local virtual asset team to support its business expansion in the region. This move coincides with the Capital Markets Authority's launch of a new virtual asset regulatory framework in April this year, expanding regulated activities from three to eight categories.
The United Arab Emirates's updated framework clarifies new requirements for business conduct, alternative trading system operations, anti-money laundering measures and prudential standards, aiming to strengthen supervision and stability in the virtual asset sector. The newly launched regulatory system by the Capital Markets Authority expands the scope of supervision of virtual asset companies and sets clear standards for market practice, custody operations and anti-money laundering compliance.
Broader market context
Recent trends show that Abu Dhabi is consolidating its position as a regional center for digital asset activity through stricter regulation and expanded licensing opportunities. At the same time, companies are working to enhance the investor experience by streamlining access to trading and custody tools.
Tools that integrate charts, news and portfolio monitoring functions are becoming critical in a dynamic market shaped by a combination of regulatory updates, technological advances and asset price fluctuations. When a sudden central bank decision or a rapid listing of altcoins can change the trading environment in seconds, having a privacy-first platform that integrates real-time data and alerts allows traders to obtain information without having to register multiple apps or accounts.
This new service puts Capital.com side by side with a growing number of innovative companies in the region. In the field of cryptocurrency, the United Arab Emirates continues to emerge as a key hub for the development of digital assets thanks to its evolving regulatory methods and growing demand for secure encryption services.
