Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan also cast a "no" vote, arguing that existing ethics are insufficient and pointing to the problem of President Donald Trump, his children and some cabinet members profiting from crypto activities.

As the CLARITY Act is blocked, expectations for regulatory clarity in the United States turn back to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC is developing a regulatory framework called "Reg Crypto" and rules on tokenized securities.
