XMR “iamnotavillain”团伙勒索Revolut 6000枚门罗币，威胁向犯罪组织出售敏感数据

更广泛的欧洲调查
Prosecutors in Reggio Calabria, Italy, have launched an investigation into possible unauthorized access to a provincial government's certified email account. According to reports, the abused account was used to send forged requests disguised as being from the Italian Postal Police, whose origin was an Interior Ministry domain name that lasted for months. Authorities have not yet determined whether the account was hacked or cloned by a malicious party. Italy's national anti-mafia and counter-terrorism prosecutor is monitoring developments.
In response to the incident, Italy's data protection authority urged banks to review their security protocols in response to similar breaches. The agency also contacted its counterpart in Lithuania because Revolut is legally headquartered in Lithuania. Authorities are now verifying whether the stolen data contained police documents.
Reaction of Revolut and its regulators
Revolut confirmed last week that they provided customer data to external parties after receiving requests that appeared to come from legitimate government domain names. The fraudulent requests included the authorized email address of a government agency. The records damaged in the leak contained sensitive information such as passports, verification selfies and transaction history involving Bitcoin.
Despite the data breach, Revolut emphasized that its core systems and customer funds remain safe. The company earlier stated that "Revolut's systems and customer funds were not affected" in an attempt to reassure customers after disclosing the unauthorized data release.
