Mastercard cooperates with Busha to promote Mastercard Crypto Credential to Africa
Mastercard has reached a partnership with the pan-African digital asset exchange Busha to expand Mastercard Crypto Credential service throughout Africa, bringing greater trust and simplicity to digital asset transfers. Effective now, all eligible Busha users in Nigeria can use the unique Crypto Credential alias, expanding the network of verified users and streamlining the cryptocurrency receipt and receipt process between participatory exchanges and wallets within the Crypto Credential ecosystem.
Through this cooperation, Busha has become one of the first digital asset exchanges in Africa to enable Crypto Credential functionality for users, further demonstrating the two companies 'commitment to making digital asset transactions more credible, simple and accessible. Mastercard Crypto Credential gives users greater confidence by connecting them to terminals that meet Mastercard verification standards and ensures that funds are sent to trusted recipients. In addition, the service replaces lengthy blockchain addresses with simple, verified aliases that make it easier for users to share to receive digital assets. Before completing a transaction, the solution confirms whether the recipient can receive a specific digital asset on a designated blockchain, thereby reducing the possibility of a failed or misissued transfer.
Gabriel Swanepoel, President of Mastercard Africa, said:
"Digital asset transfers should be as intuitive and trustworthy as other forms of digital payments. Mastercard Crypto Credential gives users and institutions more confidence in sending funds to verified terminals and streamlines the transaction process with easy-to-use aliases. By partnering with Nigeria's leading digital asset platform Busha, every verified Busha user can be reached by email or phone number. Together, we support responsible innovation and promote the safe and credible development of Africa's digital asset infrastructure."
These aliases are common between participatory exchanges and wallets within the Crypto Credential ecosystem, allowing Busha users to trade not only with each other, but also with users on other supported platforms. Since the verification process is completed at the platform level, eligible verified Busha users do not need to make any additional settings; their Crypto Credential will be automatically issued as part of their Busha account.
Michael Adeyeri, co-founder and CEO of Busha, commented:
"At Busha, we are focused on making digital assets more practical, accessible and trustworthy for everyday users, and the partnership with MasterCard helps us achieve this goal. By enabling eligible users to trade using verified aliases, Mastercard Crypto Credential makes the experience easier and more intuitive, while reinforcing the security and compliance standards users expect from Busha. We are proud to bring this feature to Nigeria and support the responsible growth of Africa's digital asset ecosystem."
As digital assets continue to gain momentum in Africa in investment, remittances and cross-border commerce, trustworthy and easy-to-use infrastructure is critical to accelerating mainstream adoption. The launch of Mastercard Crypto Credential reflects Busha's broader mission to create a more intuitive, accessible and secure digital financial environment for everyday users.
