ZetaChain 持有人批准 Solana 迁移及 Layer 1 关闭

ZetaChain holders voted to approve Layer 1 shutdown and Solana migration plan

ZetaChain token holders have formally approved the shutdown of their Layer 1 blockchain and the migration of their business to the Solana network. In Proposition 68, voting holders overwhelmingly supported the plan. Overall, 99.4% of voters agreed, and the participation rate was as high as 58%, exceeding the statutory minimum requirement of 40%. Opposing votes and abstentions each accounted for 0.3%.

According to the framework, ZETA will become a native SPL token on Solana through a one-to-one redemption method. After the migration, ZETA will retain its transaction code, total supply and original lockdown schedule, but tokens on Ethereum and BNB Chain are still not included in this conversion.

Anuma strategy promotes migration to Solana

Developers pointed out that this decision was mainly driven by Anuma, an artificial intelligence application launched by ZetaChain in February this year. According to official ZetaChain data, Anuma has attracted more than 300,000 users and processed one million requests in 35 artificial intelligence models.

Anuma's encrypted memory system runs across models, applications, and agents, while allowing users to control information. In addition, ZETA holders can obtain credit lines for in-app artificial intelligence services by locking in tokens.

Developers believe that maintaining an independent Cosmos SDK blockchain imposes unnecessary operational burdens. Each upstream security bulletin requires coordinating verifier nodes, making it more difficult to protect the network and upgrade the system. In addition, the proposal warns that artificial intelligence tools may reveal more blockchain software vulnerabilities. Cosmos Labs previously disclosed an attack that affected six Cosmos EVM chains, although ZetaChain was not affected.

Details of the shutdown need to be determined by a separate vote.

ZetaChain has not announced the specific shutdown date due to the exchange needing to confirm the token conversion arrangement. Another proposal will clarify the height of the balance snapshot, the height of the closed block, the collection process and specific instructions for the withdrawal of related chain assets.

At the same time, the ZETA pledge feature is still effective, but developers have not yet finalized how the pledge and reward mechanism will operate on Solana. This migration marks a departure from ZetaChain's original interoperability strategy. The project raised US$27 million in funding from investors such as Blockchain.com and Jane Street Capital in August 2023, and was launched on the main network in January 2024, supporting various applications using network assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, contributors now believe that Solana is a better infrastructure to carry Anuma and avoid the heavy burden of operating another Layer 1 network.

ZETA prices fell by approximately 2.5% in 24 hours as holders evaluated migration plans and pending pledge arrangements.
