Cardano (ADA) founder outlines key milestones, new buy signals emerge

Core Points

Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, emphasizes completing key roadmap goals and governance structures to drive the network's next expansion cycle.

The cryptocurrency has fallen 40.71% so far in 2026 and has fallen out of the top ten digital assets by market value.

The Pogun Bitcoin DeFi plan and RealFi platform have attracted initial commitments of US$600 million, and the total value of lockups is expected to reach billions in the future.

Implementing the Leios scalability enhancement scheme and its associated hard forks remains a top priority for the development team.

Cardano faces challenges in attracting institutional capital due to the ranking of only 36th in total locked position value and the lack of approved spot ETF products.

Key Goals for the Network

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson urged the community to complete outstanding roadmap commitments and governance goals, and said the platform must "finish well" before it can enter the subsequent development stage. The remarks were made during discussions surrounding an update to the voting mechanism of the Constitutional Council on the Cardano Network.

Hoskinson highlighted the overall progress of the ecosystem, particularly mentioning the launch of the RealFi platform and the growing enthusiasm for Bitcoin DeFi integration. He predicts that RealFi could inject billions of dollars in total lockdown value into the ecosystem in the next few years. According to Hoskinson, the Pogun Bitcoin DeFi project has received an initial financing commitment of US$600 million.

Hoskinson listed a number of core tasks to be completed urgently, including finalizing the Leios extensibility protocol enhancement and implementing corresponding hard fork upgrades. Establishing a sound governance framework is another core priority. He advocated completing the "last mile of governance" while building an institutional structure that can operate independently and continuously optimized. The Cardano Stakeholder Community has approved the Constitutional Council structure to ensure that the number of members remains above five, allowing the Council to authorize upgrades to key agreements, including the Leios Constitutional Amendment.

Despite these advances, the ADA will perform poorly throughout 2026. The digital asset has fallen 40.71% year-to-date and lost its status as the top ten cryptocurrencies by market value.

Competitive challenges facing ADA

Cardano ranks 36th in the ranking of total locked value, a key indicator of DeFi's performance. Rival networks such as Solana have dropped about 18% this year, far better than the ADA's 41% decline. The lack of spot ETF products puts Cardano at a disadvantage compared to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP and even Dogecoin. This gap limits access to retail traders and institutional portfolios.

Market analyst Ali Charts identified a potentially important turning point, pointing out that the Tom DeMark Sequential indicator has generated a new buy signal on the ADA daily chart. Historical data shows that the signal has previously successfully predicted the bottom: triggering a 44.5% rebound on June 25, a 11.5% rebound on July 15, and a 50.9% rebound on August 18, indicating that a new round of rising prices may be in the works.

Hoskinson insisted the ecosystem remained competitive and said they were "not out." Both the Leios upgrade and the RealFi platform are scheduled to be deployed later this year.

ADA is currently trading at approximately US$0.20, down approximately 94% from the all-time high of nearly US$3 set in September 2021.
