Bitcoin pushes to near US$86,000, and crypto market sentiment warms up
This week, Bitcoin prices pushed to about US$86,000, driving broader crypto market sentiment and helping the total market value regain the US$3 trillion mark. At the same time, multiple cross-asset indicators have shifted-the most notable of which is one from Glassnode, which currently points to stronger performance for Altcoins. At the same time, inflows into U.S. spot ETFs have surged to their highest level since October 2025, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum-related products recording record daily net inflows. These data suggest that the current rally is not limited to the largest asset classes, but market structure remains critical as investors weigh whether this is a sustained sector rotation or a brief explosion.
Key Points
- Glassnode's altcoin cycle signal rose to 81.25 (0-100 scale), and the "altcoin season" reading improved with the latest round of market gains.
- On Tuesday, the market value of altcoins reached US$1.19 trillion, the highest level since late January; since August 19, the altcoins have risen 33% overall.
- Bitcoin's dominance has remained in the 59%-60% range, failing to break through 60% in the past month.
- According to data from Farside Investors, the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF recorded a net inflow of $999 million on Monday, and the Ethereum ETF attracted $270 million-both are the highest total daily net inflows since October 2025.
Glassnode's "Altcoin Season" signal turns bull
For traders and fund managers, this combination-the "altcoin season" reading and rising altcoin market value-may be significant because it suggests that the rally is spreading beyond Bitcoin's leadership. However, until these rotating signals show persistence over multiple trading days and market conditions, they tend to remain fragile.
Bitcoin's dominance remains near 60%
Although the altcoin has regained momentum, Bitcoin's share of the overall market has not shown a decisive upward breakthrough. The article pointed out that since August 19, Bitcoin's dominance has been in a range of fluctuations, currently at 59.7%, compared with 59.2% on August 19.
The key is that dominance has not exceeded the 60% level in the past month-which many market observers regard as a psychological and technical threshold for determining whether funds are being withdrawn from Bitcoin or integrated within it.
Trader and commentator Matthew Hyland described the current environment as "complacency" among Bitcoin investors, who he believes have been reluctant to accept the fact that Bitcoin lacks sustained progress relative to altcoins since its dominance reached about 66% in June 2025. His comments pointed to a tension: Even if Bitcoin remains strong in absolute terms, its weak performance relative to altcoins could still lead to a strategic repositioning.
Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF inflows rebound sharply
In addition to on-chain data and market capitalization indicators, investor behavior also seems to be changing. Demand for spot bitcoin and Ethereum products in the United States rebounded broadly this week, signaling a return to risk appetite-or at least a renewed willingness to deploy through regulated channels.
On Monday, total net inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reached US$999 million. At the same time, the Ethereum ETF recorded a net inflow of $270 million. Based on data from Farside Investors, the total daily net inflows of both hit new highs since October 2025.
Cointelegraph previously reported that at the end of last week, the comprehensive cost benchmark for Bitcoin ETF investors was just below $86,000. As BTC/USD attempts to establish this level as support, new ETF purchases become particularly relevant: cost benchmarks can affect investors 'response to a correction, and stable inflows can help maintain demand during periods of volatility.
For market participants, the ETF perspective is also noteworthy because it connects current trends to a broader group of investors, who may prefer to invest through ETFs rather than spot exchanges. When ETF inflows rise in tandem with the improvement in the relative signal of altcoins, it may indicate a more synchronized shift in sentiment across the market.
