Potential funding reaches US$1.3 billion
As of September 13, Strategy had US$1.3 billion in flexible cash. Companies can use these funds to acquire bitcoin, strengthen dollar reserves or intervene in various financial securities.
In addition, the company separately holds US$5.1 billion in reserves. This amount of funds is mainly used to pay dividends on preferred shares and interest on debt, and therefore does not immediately represent dedicated funds for future BTC purchases.
During the week ended September 13, Strategy chose to use US$139.3 million to repurchase 1,420,467 STRC preferred shares. The move shows that the accumulation of Bitcoin is no longer the only immediate goal of its capital management.
Issuance of common stock, preferred securities or debt may also provide financing for new transactions. These tools provide Strategy with huge acquisition capabilities, but also expose shareholders to dilution, dividends and financing costs.
Official documents still need to confirm the purchase
Michael Samuelson's announcement on Sunday is currently a closely watched indicator by the market. Normally, the company will announce transaction details at the beginning of the week after the operation is executed.
The next report will show whether the phrase "a little more orange" actually corresponds to an increase in reserves. It will also indicate the acquisition period, the amount of BTC acquired and the source of funding.
