Bitcoin spot ETF has a net inflow of US$433 million in a single day, but weekly positions are still declining.
On September 18, Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded a net inflow of US$433 million, of which Fidelity's FBTC led the way with an inflow of US$311 million. Despite strong capital inflows that day, the total holdings of the Bitcoin ETF fell by approximately 5,700 bitcoins due to net outflows in the previous two weeks.
analyst Darkfost pointed out that strong ETF activity on Friday failed to reverse the negative growth trend for the second consecutive week. At the same time, SosoValue data showed that the Ethereum spot ETF also recorded a capital inflow of US$144 million on the same day, of which BlackRock's ETHA contributed US$114 million.
ETF fund flow: Friday's rebound cannot conceal the recent decline
According to Darkfost's analysis, during the net outflow period of the past two weeks, Bitcoin ETF positions have dropped by approximately 5,700 positions. He linked the trend to factors such as market pessimism about interest rate hikes and geopolitical conflicts.
However, the market saw a significant increase in activity on Friday. According to SosoValue, total net capital inflows to the U.S. Bitcoin Spot ETF reached US$433 million on September 18. Fidelity's FBTC performed most prominently, closing at US$311 million in a single day; BlackRock's IBIT recorded an inflow of US$108 million.
The Ethereum ETF also showed positive capital flows. SosoValue report showed that the net capital inflow of the spot Ethereum ETF on the day was US$144 million. Among them, BlackRock's ETHA dominated, with inflows of US$114 million; Fidelity's FETH recorded inflows of US$26.2449 million.
Prices bucked the trend: Market resilience in the context of weekly outflows
The latest data reflects broader ETF dynamics from January 2024 to September 2026. The green histogram in the chart represents daily capital inflows, the red histogram represents capital outflows, and the gold curve tracks the price trend of Bitcoin.
At the beginning of 2024, the flow of ETF funds showed fluctuations, with inflow peaks approaching US$1 billion repeatedly. There was an outflow from the market, and Bitcoin prices were relatively weak in mid-2024. From October 2024 to the beginning of 2025, the capital flow pattern has changed, with inflow peaks exceeding US$1 billion occurring many times, with the largest single inflow of approximately US$1.3 billion to US$1.4 billion.
From mid to late 2025, bitcoin prices show stronger upward momentum. During this period, ETF inflows repeatedly reached the range of US$500 million to US$1 billion. Outflows subsequently increased, including approximately $500 million to $1 billion in redemptions.
ETF activity remains divided in 2026
After entering 2026, ETF capital flows continue to fluctuate between inflows and outflows. Although inflows exceeded US$500 million in some periods, red outflow histograms frequently interrupted this trend. In the latest reading on the chart, signs of inflow once again become evident.
