Starting with recording and mirroring, let CSD BR evaluate synchronization, permissions, and exception handling before considering a greater role for blockchain in the fund's life cycle. Coindoo recently examined the same operational issues in its report on ownership gaps in tokenized securities. Token transfers and changes to recognized ownership records may involve separate steps, especially when regulated assets require investor inspection and transfer control.
XRPL is public infrastructure; workflow is controlled
This project uses XRPL's public blockchain infrastructure, but access to that particular fund workflow is limited to approved institutional participants. Ripple said CSD BR is using the ledger's multi-purpose token standard in a licensing environment for Brazilian corporate and bank customers who meet relevant KYC and AML requirements.
Within the scope of this controlled implementation, CSD BR retains authority over participant approval and asset management. The announcement said it could freeze individual assets or recover them when regulatory or judicial orders require action. This design reflects the reality of regulated fund markets. Operators must know who holds the tool, limit transfers if necessary, and maintain a path to correct mistakes or fulfill legal obligations.
Features not currently available in the pilot
Announcement does not create a new retail BTG Pactual fund, does not grant unlimited transferability of fund shares, and does not introduce continuous public trading on XRPL. During the first phase, existing investors, issuers and settlement processes remain unchanged.
