Bitcoin's rally is blocked and strategic buying momentum recedes

Key Points

Strategy suspends Bitcoin purchases, increases cash reserves, and reduces immediate buying pressure.

Bitcoin fell below key technical support levels, and the US$60,000 area was closely watched by the market.

According to CoinGecko data, Bitcoin prices traded low in the $60,000 range, falling 1.8% in 24 hours to hover around $63,400. Strategy disclosed in an 8-K filing that it raised $466.7 million through its market share offering program, bringing total U.S. dollar reserves to $3 billion. The company reported no additional purchases of bitcoins last week, with its holdings remaining at 843,775 BTC, with an average acquisition cost of $75,476. Management said the expanded cash position was intended to be used to pay preferred stock dividends and repay debt, rather than to further accumulate bitcoin. Strategy shares fell in pre-market trading after the disclosure. Before the filing, on-chain indicators had shown reduced buyer activity and slowing ETF inflows, indicating weakening demand conditions.

Technical structure and key price levels

Market charts show that Bitcoin has fallen below the lower boundary of the symmetrical triangle for more than a month, a pattern that is usually followed by continued directional movement after a breakthrough. The $60,000 to $61,500 range initially absorbed selling pressure, which came mainly from stop-loss triggers and forced liquidations rather than new spot demand. Recent price movements have fluctuated between approximately $61,800 and $63,700, reflecting narrow trading ranges and short-term uncertainties. Spot trading volume on centralized exchanges increased 15.3% to US$1.11 trillion in June, while trading volume on perpetual contracts linked to real-world assets reached a record US$311 billion. These data suggest that even with limited beliefs in direction, institutional engagement at the infrastructure level continues.

Analysts outlined three potential near-term scenarios. In an optimistic scenario, renewed inflows of cash ETF funds and corporate restart accumulation may push Bitcoin back above US$65,000, negating recent declines. In the basic scenario, Bitcoin will consolidate between US$60,000 and US$64,000, and the market evaluates liquidity conditions and waits for a new catalyst. In a pessimistic scenario, weak ETF demand and broader macro risk aversion could push prices into the $58,000 to $59,000 region.

Changes within the Bitcoin Ecosystem

With Bitcoin trading prices below Strategy's average cost basis and its buying activity suspended, market conditions appear to be range-bound and lacking momentum. Historically, this environment has often coincided with increased attention to infrastructure and alternative ecosystem projects. Bitcoin Hyper ($HYPER) positions itself as a Bitcoin-focused Layer 2 project, integrating the Solana virtual machine to achieve faster final confirmation and lower-cost smart contract capabilities, while relying on Bitcoin's security framework. The project reported raising more than $32.9 million during the pre-sale phase, with a token price of $0.0136831, and provides pledge capabilities for early participants. Market participants continue to watch whether the funding rotation will accelerate as Bitcoin tests structural support near $60,000.
