Bybit launches perpetual options products, and SpaceX and Nvidia are the first batch of targets.
According to Bybit's announcement on August 28, the cryptocurrency exchange has launched a new derivative called "Perp Options", calling it the industry's first option product built based on equity perpetual contracts. SpaceX and Nvidia will be the first target assets. The first two markets-SPCX (SpaceX) and NVDA (Nvidia)-are scheduled to start real-time trading at 20:00 (UTC) on September 17, 2026, and the product supports round-the-clock trading.
New contract operating mechanism
The option is settled in USDT and has a contract multiplier of 1, which is consistent with Bybit's existing equity perpetual contract mechanism. Bybit said the product will be integrated into its unified trading account and portfolio margin system, allowing users to cross-hedge spot, perpetual contract and option positions in a single margin account. The exchange lists spreads, straddle combinations and covered and opening positions as the main strategies supported by the product, aiming to allow users to apply familiar option skills to equity risk exposures settled in stablecoins.
First batch of markets and roadmap
In addition to the announced SpaceX and Nvidia contracts, Bybit plans to subsequently add TSLA, QQQ, SOXL and MU targets, and introduce more expiration dates. The company did not disclose the specific timetable. Currently, only the clear schedule disclosed is the launch time of 20:00 (UTC) on September 17. The choice of SpaceX, an unlisted company, as a target, is noteworthy because it provides traders with indirect access to a company that is not listed on a public exchange. The announcement did not specify the initial listing fee or leverage limits for the new contract.
Bybit expands equity derivatives landscape
This launch further expands Bybit's existing equity perpetual contract product line, which the exchange has previously used to provide round-the-clock trading of U.S. stocks and ETFs for crypto-native traders. The move also continues the exchange's overall direction of deepening the layout of options products-Bybit had previously implemented a comprehensive upgrade of options analysis tools earlier this month. Rival OKX has taken a similar step, launching 20 equity perpetual swap contracts in March this year to support 24/7 transactions. The product release is part of a broader trend of crypto exchanges packaging traditional equity into crypto-native derivatives settled in stablecoins and not subject to market trading hours. Bybit's positioning of the product as an "industry first" is a company's own statement rather than a milestone in independent verification.
