U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced that it has decided to suspend trading in Badger DAO (BADGER) and Storj (STORJ) after the latest review of listing standards.
According to Coinbase's statement, trading between BADGER and STORJ will be suspended at around 9 pm Turkish time on September 28, 2026. The decision will also affect simple trading and advanced trading services on Coinbase, as well as the Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Prime platforms for institutional investors.
The exchange said it will regularly review whether the crypto assets traded on its platform meet listing standards and decided to suspend trading in these two altcoins after a recent evaluation. According to Coinbase's official help page, delisting decisions may be based on a variety of reasons, including changes to the project, failure of assets to meet review standards, or the project to cease operations. However, the exchange did not clearly explain the specific reasons for the delisting.
Before delisting, Coinbase switched the order books of BADGER and STORJ to "limit order only" mode. At this stage, investors can only place limit orders or cancel existing limit orders. If a matching counterparty order is found, the transaction can still be executed.
What is Badger DAO (BADGER)?
Badger DAO is a decentralized project that aims to increase the use of Bitcoin in the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. The project claims to be a decentralized structure of community-driven developers that supports Bitcoin's development in the DeFi space.
The ecosystem's native token, BADGER, is used in various DeFi protocols related to Badger DAO, and its main function is governance. The official website of the project also pointed out that front-end support for some old products and vaults has been stopped, and users now need to directly access relevant smart contracts through blockchain.
What is Storj?
Storj is one of the projects to develop a decentralized distributed cloud storage infrastructure based on blockchain technology. The network is designed to decentralize user data on different storage nodes rather than centrally storing it in a single data center.
In Storj's infrastructure, files are encrypted, fragmented, and distributed to different storage nodes in the global network. The project also provides S3 compatibility as an alternative to traditional cloud storage services. STORJ tokens are used for payments between storage services and network participants and are part of the network's economic structure.
