FollowingAnimoca Brands and Currenc Group suspend reverse merger negotiations, listing plans have not stalled
Animoca Brands announced that it has suspended discussions with Currenc Group on the proposed reverse merger transaction. The transaction was originally announced on November 3, 2025. After reviewing the expected timetable needed to complete the transaction and changes in market conditions, the companies agreed to suspend the talks.
Merger negotiations are temporarily put on hold
Animoca Brands said on its official blog that the current time required to complete the deal is inconsistent with its short-and medium-term strategic goals, adding that discussions may resume if market and corporate conditions permit.
Despite the suspension of talks, the Web3 giant said it is currently working to improve its financial compliance and corporate governance plans. Animoca released its audited fiscal year 2023 financial statements on July 17, 2026. This is the company's second set of audited financial results released this year and is currently preparing a fiscal year 2024 report.
According to Animoca, completing these two reports is an important step in its efforts to meet future public listing requirements. Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman, said: "Although we attach great importance to the proposed merger with Currenc Group, the agility of the company must come first. Today, we reaffirm our focus with our strong operational strength, unmatched digital asset and artificial intelligence portfolio, and a firm determination to achieve compliance milestones."
Public market expansion slows down
与此同时，Animoca Brands 也参与了香港的稳定币推进计划。2025 年 2 月，它与渣打银行香港分行及香港电讯（HKT）合资成立了“Anchorpoint Financial Limited”。2026 年 4 月，该合资企业获得了香港金融管理局颁发的首批官方稳定币发行牌照之一。同年 8 月，Anchorpoint 开始向机构投资者推出其受监管的港元挂钩稳定币 HKDAP。
