KakaoPay Securities has partnered with Dinari to test the feasibility of tokenization and international distribution of South Korean listed stocks

KakaoPay Securities has entered into a partnership with Dinari to test whether South Korean listed stocks can be tokenized and distributed to qualified investors outside South Korea, including through U.S. channels.

Core content of cooperation

KakaoPay Securities and Dinari will jointly test the tokenization process of Korean stocks and explore the possibility of international distribution through a partner network. Dinari's "dShares" model ensures that each token is fully backed by underlying securities held through a regulated custody structure on a 1:1 basis.

The two companies plan to establish a joint working group this year to focus on the issuance and redemption process. Dinari currently offers 724 tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to qualified investors in multiple jurisdictions.

Framework Development and Proof of Concept

Dinari announced on September 29 that the two parties will jointly develop a framework for acquiring underlying Korean stocks, conduct Proof of Concept for tokenization, and form a joint working group to study the operational, technical and regulatory requirements required for international distribution. As of now, no South Korean stocks have been successfully tokenized under this partnership.

Both parties plan to review Dinari's dShares model, in which each token is backed 1:1 by the corresponding underlying securities held through the custody structure. Dinari said the model aims to preserve applicable rights related to shares, including dividends and voting rights.

Korea is home to some of the world's most important companies, yet access remains limited for most investors abroad
