TRON Main Network Vote: How Will Proposition 107 Change the Network?
The TRON community is at a critical decision-making moment that could reshape the way the network handles smart contracts, security and computing costs. The TRON Mainnet Committee Proposal No. 107 voting was launched on August 25, 2026 and has attracted widespread attention from developers and TRX holders.
This proposal is not a trivial matter. It aims to keep TRON in sync with Ethereum's Prague and Osaka feature sets. If the proposal is approved, the upgrade will be officially activated at 14:00 Singapore time on August 28, 2026.
Core Points
According to the DAO official X platform post, voting on TRON Main Network Proposal No. 107 will begin on August 25, 2026, and the effective date is scheduled to be August 28, 2026.
The upgrade includes: historical block hash query, CLZ opcode, native secp256r1 support (for Passkey verification), and reduced energy costs for MODEP.
According to CoinGecko data, TRX is currently trading at US$0.3427, with a market value of approximately US$32.528 billion, down about 20% from its historical high of US$0.4313.
How will the TRON proposal change the network?
Proposal 107 aims to align the TRON virtual machine (TVM) with Ethereum's Prague and Osaka upgrades, both of which are integrated into TRON's own GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 version (code-named Pyrrho). Simply put, TVM is the engine that runs all smart contracts, so this upgrade will touch every application built on the chain.
There are four significant changes here. Historical block hash queries allow smart contracts to trace back earlier block data without additional workarounds. CLZ opcodes accelerate some of the mathematical operations used in contract code.
Native secp256r1 supports introducing Passkey authentication directly onto the chain, which is important because Passkey is gradually becoming the standard way to log in to applications without passwords. Optimized MODEXP energy consumption reduces the computing costs of cryptographic operations, potentially reducing the cost of developers running complex contracts.
These features are not unique to TRON. Ethereum has implemented similar changes in its own roadmap. TRON DAO's mirroring operation aims to maintain compatibility between the two ecosystems, so that tools and contracts built for one ecosystem can migrate to the other ecosystem with fewer modifications.
When will the TRON main network voting end and take effect?
The timetable is very tight. The vote on TRON Main Network Proposal No. 107 will open on August 25, 2026. Its X platform post states that the effective time is scheduled to take effect on August 28, 2026, and it is expected to be activated around 14:00 Singapore time that day. As of the time of writing this article, the specific activation block is still marked as "pending".
Milestone date
Voting request created: August 25, 2026
Voting request effective (if approved): August 28, 2026, 14:00 Singapore time
Activation block: Pending
Committee proposals need to be approved through an equity-weighted vote by super representatives elected on the Internet. If Proposition 107 meets this threshold before the window closes, the TVM upgrade will be available on the specified date without requiring any further action by ordinary TRX holders.
If the proposal is passed, will TRX prices rebound?
According to CoinGecko data, TRX is currently trading at US$0.3427, with a market value of approximately US$32.528 billion, and a 24-hour trading volume of approximately US$449,673 million. The token has risen more than 3% in the past week and 3.2% in the past month, and is now about 20% below its all-time high of $0.4313.
There is a fundamental story behind this vote. Token Terminal data cited by TRON DAO shows that USDT on TRON has grown by $1.1 billion in the past 30 days, the fastest growing of all networks the agency tracks and more than eight times the $130.3 million increase on Aptos, the second-ranked fast-growing chain.
The data also points out that the TRON network has 400 million accounts. Combined with this real-time upgrade vote, some traders believe it constitutes a reason to reignite buying interest, and a successful activation on August 28 may further boost this momentum.
Still, voting on technology upgrades does not guarantee price changes. The growth of stablecoins and the number of accounts reflect network usage rather than direct TRX demand; broader cryptocurrency market conditions, exchange capital flows, and macro factors will all affect TRX's next move. If buying pressure builds, TRX could move towards a historical high of $0.4313, but this is not guaranteed by the proposal itself; and a vote rejected or delayed could also easily cool short-term market sentiment.
What should TRX holders focus on next?
The next specific checkpoint is August 28, 2026, when the threshold is reached, the voting results are expected to take effect. Traders and developers following TRON should track three things: whether superrepresentatives approved Proposition 107; whether activation blocks were confirmed as planned; and whether the USDT supply on TRON continues to expand at its current rate. Slowing stablecoin growth or failed voting will weaken the bullish case; a smooth activation accompanied by continued USDT inflows will strengthen the bullish case.
