The U.S. spot Solana ETF ushered in the best capital inflow day of the year on August 27, with a net inflow of US$60.91 million that day. Although there are still two trading days before the close of the month, August has become the best month of the year, with inflows of more than $134 million. The total net assets of the nine funds rose to $1.49 billion from $1.26 billion the previous day, and cumulative net inflows now reach $1.32 billion. Trading volume reached $196.82 million yesterday, more than double the volume on August 26.
Two other factors have also added impetus to the growing SOL trading, and both occur within the same 24-hour period.
Bitwise accounted for two-thirds of the day's traffic
Of the total inflow of US$60.91 million that day, Bitwise's BSOL fund attracted US$40.2 million, accounting for approximately 66% of the inflow. BSOL currently has net assets of US$1.02 billion, and the cumulative inflow since its launch has been US$1.01 billion, making it the only SOL product to exceed the US$1 billion mark. Grayscale's GSOL increased by $6.22 million, Fidelity's FSOL increased by $5.82 million, and Morgan Stanley's MSOL increased by $4.74 million. 21Shares 'TSOL inflow on the day was US$3.93 million, but its cumulative net flow was still negative at-98.26 million.
Schwab opens SOL to 39.9 million accounts
Hours before the day's fund flow data was released, Charles Schwab announced that he would add SOL, AVAX and LINK to his spot cryptocurrency trading product Schwab Crypto in the coming months. ETFs already provide advisers with a tool they can put into model portfolios. Schwab's direct access removes obstacles for retail investors who have never planned to open a Phantom wallet. The two channels are independent of each other, but they have been broadened simultaneously within the same week, changing the proportion of the pool of reachable investors that can actually buy.
Online voting decided to reduce issuance and increase destruction
Solana's first on-chain governance vote ended on the same day, and the two proposals compressed SOL supply from both ends. The first proposal halves the rate at which new SOL enters circulation, advances the network's 1.5% inflation floor from 2032 to approximately 2029, and reduces projected circulation by approximately 18.9 million SOL over six years. The second proposal rewrites the transaction fee mechanism so that a larger proportion of the fee is destroyed rather than paid, and the daily destruction volume could rise from about 648 SOL to between 7500 and 9000 SOL. The end of voting does not mean implementation. The implementation timetable of Solana's proposal has previously been extended, and the scope of destruction is also a forecast related to network activity rather than a fixed timetable.
SOL returns above $105 for the first time since January
SOL traded at $109 on August 27, rising about 44% in August and is expected to record its strongest month since 2024. The last time the price remained above $105 was in January. What is unusual about this situation is its order. During the same trading session, access was expanded through two different channels, while the network was also reducing issuance. The capital inflow figures have attracted attention, but US$60.91 million is just a good day compared to US$1.49 billion in total assets, not a system change. Whether we can maintain close to this pace in the next few trading days is more telling than the data for a single day on August 27.
