According to Ugurmersin, COMP tokens were returned to Safe 58 wallets 58 minutes before the vote on Propositions 580 and 582 closed. He accused the foundation of using these tokens to manipulate the governance process, transferring almost all DAO funds to the multi-signature agency he helped sign, the Treasury Management Board (TMC), and promoting the passage of a $52 million V4 plan that benefits the foundation itself. The Compound Growth Working Group, security company Certora and auditor ChainSecurity are all listed as supporters of the initiative.
Cryptopolitan was unable to independently verify the transaction statement, and the foundation has not yet responded to the allegations. The representative invited representatives of the foundation and working group Pgov and AranaDigital, ChainSecurity and Certora to respond.
Mainstream lending agreements encounter governance crisis
This accusation against Compound raises contrasts with the Aave governance controversy. Aave's governance battle broke out in December 2025 when representatives pointed out that the proposed CoWSwap integration would redirect exchange fees from Aave DAO treasury. The "Aave Will Win" proposal aimed at resolving the dispute ultimately failed to close smoothly. Marc Zeller, founder of the Aave Chain Initiative, has accused the address associated with Aave Labs of influencing the final results after the proposal passed the first-round governance threshold with a support rating of 52.58%.
Analysis of the current situation in the early stage of the controversy
