Why does BNB Chain build another Layer 1 blockchain?
BNB Chain is developing a new Layer 1 blockchain specifically designed for agency trading and aims to create a faster execution environment for automated policy, on-chain trading systems, and applications that require higher latency requirements than what the existing BNB technology stack can provide. This new chain will run in parallel with BNB Intelligent Chain, opBNB and Greenfield, rather than replacing them. According to the technical roadmap for the second half of the project, the test network is planned to be launched by the end of 2026, and the main network deployment target is early 2027. Its design goal is clear: to bring the on-chain trading experience closer to the execution efficiency of a centralized exchange while maintaining users \'self-custody of assets and transparent settlement. This framework is important because cryptocurrency trading infrastructure is evolving towards more automated market structures, with agents, liquidators, market makers and high-frequency strategies competing for speed and execution quality. The goal of the chain is to achieve pre-confirmation of transactions in less than 50 milliseconds and final confirmation in less than 1 second. At the same time, through collaboratively optimized consensus mechanism, parallel execution and LtHash-based storage scheme, we strive to achieve throughput of more than 100,000 transactions per second. These numbers are still design goals because the network has not yet entered the test network stage.
Can on-chain trading match the execution efficiency of centralized exchanges?
BNB Chain does not claim that on-chain trading venues can surpass centralized matchmaking engines at all levels. Centralized exchanges can complete execution at the microsecond level, especially for high-frequency traders hosted in the same computer room. The project believes that in practice, most users will not experience microsecond execution speeds because real round-trip times are usually measured in milliseconds. David Z, chief technology officer of BNB Chain, said that pre-confirmation of less than 50 milliseconds allows the chain to move closer to what a typical exchange user actually feels, while still allowing users to custody assets themselves without having to rely on balances in the company\'s database. Z said: \"For high-frequency traders hosted in the same computer room, centralized exchanges still dominate today. But for everyone else, it provides the experience of a centralized exchange without custody risks.\" This distinction is at the heart of the product strategy. The new chain is not trying to recreate all the advantages of a centralized exchange, but is aimed at users and developers who want a faster on-chain execution experience while maintaining self-custody, transparent clearing, and programmable assets.

BNB Chain\'s new Layer 1 is an execution-level bet. Market opportunities lie not only in faster trading speeds, but also in whether automated trading, liquidity management and proxy applications can run on the chain, while avoiding the delays and MEV issues that make many users prefer centralized trading venues.
How does the new chain deal with preemptive trading risks?
The proposed architecture removes public memory pools through a feature called TxStream. Transactions are not broadcast to public waiting areas, but are routed directly to block leaders. The goal is to reduce latency and make common forms of preemptive trading, including sandwich attacks, more difficult to implement. Because there is no public memory pool, it is more difficult for attackers to see pending transactions and place transactions around them before they are executed. The ranking is determined before the transaction becomes visible. This changes the risk model but does not completely eliminate extraction risk, as block leaders become key nodes in the sequencing process. BNB Chain\'s solution is leadership rotation. Z said leaders rotate every 200 milliseconds, making it difficult for any validator to build a lasting business model around the ranking of privileges. Commitments below 50 milliseconds are also designed to make sequencing behavior auditable and increase the cost of improper behavior for verifiers-because their pledges and reputations are exposed to risk. Z said: \"TxStream does not eliminate MEVs, nothing can eliminate them. But it is designed to make the main attack impractical.\" The second component, PriorityLane, will reserve block space for oracle, clearing and cross-chain bridges, which will be governed on-chain. This helps protect time-sensitive features that are critical to the stability of the DeFi market, especially during periods of volatility, when delayed oracle updates or clearing transactions can increase agreement risk.
Why is the execution level the main battlefield?
BNB Chain\'s technology roadmap positions the main bottleneck at the execution level, not just consensus or storage. The team believes that the EVM chain repeats a lot of work because popular contracts such as token transfers and exchanges on decentralized exchanges are executed millions of times. \"The EVM chain does a lot of duplication of work because the same popular contract (one DEX exchange, one token transfer) is run millions of times,\" Z said. The project focuses on just-in-time compilation and strength reduction techniques-commonly used in mainstream software engineering-to reduce duplication of computing efforts. This approach is not as eye-catching as the launch of new consensus designs, but it addresses a practical problem with high-transaction-volume chains: achieving faster execution without requiring every application to migrate away from the familiar EVM pattern. The roadmap comes as high-performance blockchains are racing to break execution bottlenecks. Solana\'s Firedancer, Monad and MegaETH are all pursuing higher throughput, lower latency and parallel execution. The addition of BNB Chain adds another major ecosystem to the competition and has additional advantages such as existing user base, BNB mobility, and a mature DeFi environment on BSC.
Investor perspective
The main risk lies in liquidity fragmentation. BNB Chain attempts to avoid this problem by keeping BSC as a clearing center, using native cross-chain bridges, and using BNB as a unified asset across the technology stack. Whether this succeeds will depend on the security of the cross-chain bridge, developer adoption, and whether traders believe the performance improvements are sufficient to justify using the new chain.
How does the new chain integrate into the BNB technology stack?
This new Layer 1 will become the fourth major chain in the BNB ecosystem, alongside BNB Smart Chain, opBNB and Greenfield. BNB Chain views this extension as increasing developer flexibility rather than forcing migration from BSC. Z said that the new chain will include an official native cross-chain bridge to BSC, with BSC serving as a settlement center and BNB serving as a shared asset for all chains. \"The goal is to make the cake bigger for BNB Chain, not to re-divide it,\" Z said. This information is designed to respond to one of the main concerns of multi-chain expansion: distracting mobility and attention to too many places. BSC already has a mature DeFi ecosystem, and the new chain is positioned as a dedicated environment for application scenarios that require faster execution than the BSC design supports.
The roadmap also includes work on anti-quantum security. BNB Chain is testing a hybrid approach that superimposes post-quantum protection on top of existing cryptography rather than directly replacing it. Developers are also investigating whether account abstraction can allow users to implement quantum security protection without changing their wallet addresses. Z said: \"No one in the industry has a complete quantum migration solution, including us.\" The team has made post-quantum choices in areas they control, including lattice-based LtHash state commitments. Account migration remains more difficult because changing the signature scheme while keeping the wallet address stable requires binding the address to a scalable authentication policy rather than a single key.
For developers and investors, the roadmap shows that BNB Chain is moving from general-purpose expansion to a more specialized infrastructure. The commercial test for the new chain is whether pre-confirmation of less than 50 milliseconds, no public memory pool, and high throughput can attract transaction applications without weakening liquidity on the existing BNB technology stack.
