Whales are withdrawing the altcoin from exchanges: Is that a rising signal?

Uniswap's native token, UNI, has depreciated sharply at the weekly level, and the movements of the whales have also attracted investors 'attention. While UNI prices fell by about 18%, large investors accelerated the withdrawal of tokens from Binance, creating a noteworthy divergence in the market. Despite falling prices, whales continue to withdraw UNI from exchanges, reinforcing the belief that some large investors view current prices as a long-term accumulation area rather than a selling opportunity. This trend has also led the market to pay close attention to whether UNI prices can recover again in the future.

Whales withdraw UNI from Binance

According to data tracked by analyst Darkfost, the monthly average of UNI withdrawals by Binance through large transactions has reached a level of approximately 7,300 tokens. This level has become the highest withdrawal rate in nearly five years, indicating that large investors have accumulated increased interest in UNI. Especially when the UNI price approached the US$3 level, the significant increase in whale trading activity attracted attention. Removing tokens from Binance reduces the possibility of these assets being sold immediately on exchanges, which is interpreted as a sign that some investors are establishing long-term positions.

Exchange reserves rise

Another notable development on the UNI side is the increase in exchange reserves. According to CryptoQuant, the number of UNIs on all exchanges stood at approximately 103 million on August 11, and then rose to 110.3 million. The increase of about 7% is in sharp contrast to the withdrawal behavior of large investors in Binhang. The increase in the amount of UNI held on exchanges can be interpreted as an increase in the supply available for sale in the market. This situation suggests that, contrary to the whale withdrawal behavior, the overall behavior of ordinary investors is more cautious or biased towards selling. In the coming days, the trend of exchange reserves may become an important indicator of whether potential selling pressure on UNI prices continues.

Assessment

In the UNI market, there is a clear divergence between whale and overall exchange movements. The withdrawal of UNI from Binance by large investors supports long-term accumulated expectations, while the increase in total exchange reserves suggests that selling pressure has not completely disappeared. Although Standard Chartered Bank maintains long-term optimistic forecasts for UNI, the fall in prices also suggests investors are acting cautiously. In the next few days, the number of UNI entering and leaving the exchange will be closely watched as an important reference for price direction.
