XRP Evernorth completed US$30 million in debt financing, which was earmarked for increasing its holdings of XRP
Evernorth is a crypto company that uses XRP as its main treasury asset. Recently, it received US$30 million from South Korea's NH Investment through a debt financing round. The funds have been explicitly earmarked for further purchases of XRP, continuing its strategic model: imitating the Bitcoin Treasury model that has been popular over the past two years, but applying it to Ripple native tokens running on XRP Ledger.
Strategic background and market environment
Treasury companies built around a single crypto asset typically raise capital through equity or debt issuance, with the aim of accumulating the asset and retaining it on the balance sheet. The core bet of this strategy is that the long-term price appreciation of the asset will exceed the cost of raising capital to buy it. However, performance within the industry this year has been mixed. As the initial novelties faded and more companies adopted the model, several bitcoin-focused treasury companies saw the premium of their stocks relative to the value of their positions compressed significantly.
Evernorth's strategy of focusing on XRP comes at a timely time, as XRP itself has renewed interest from institutional investors. This is partly related to Ripple's continued efforts to expand the use of XRP Ledger in payment and settlement infrastructure. NH Investment is a South Korean financial company that is relatively rare in the crypto-treasury financing space compared to U.S. investors who support most Bitcoin treasury companies. Its participation suggests that interest in XRP's specific treasury exposure has exceeded the existing U.S. investor base for the asset.
