ETH MetaMask discloses security incident, massive preventive exit from Ethereum verifiers
On October 1, MetaMask disclosed a security incident that affected part of its pledge infrastructure and triggered a massive preventive exit from Ethereum verifiers. The company said it has found no signs of damage to customers 'wallets or funds.
Thousands of validators withdraw from the Lido protocol
MetaMask said it is responding to an "ongoing security incident" that affects parts of its infrastructure. As a precautionary measure, MetaMask coordinated with its clients and partners to proactively exit affected verifiers in its unmanaged pledge operations.
The company emphasizes that its pledge business is inherently non-custodial and will not manage the withdrawal keys of pledged funds on behalf of customers.
This incident involves MetaMask Staking (formerly known as Consensus Staking), a business that serves as a client and a verifier of the liquidity pledge protocol Lido. Security researcher Kaden estimates that approximately 17,000 validators holding approximately 523,000 ETH were initiated in the exit process. Based on October 1 prices, the assets are worth approximately $1.4 billion. As of the afternoon of October 1, MetaMask had neither confirmed nor denied these numbers.

Lido 确认退出操作，设定10月7日为最后期限
以太坊去中心化流动性质押解决方案 Lido 确认，MetaMask 已采取措施保护与其运营的验证者相关的客户资产，包括将其 ETH 验证者从 Lido 协议中退出。这可能会导致预期收益的损失以及可能的停机罚款。
相关验证者已开始退出流程，预计最终将在2026年10月7日之前完成退出（尽管尚未完全提现）。ETH 将在大约 45 天内返还至协议，stETH 持有者无需采取任何行动。
