Zcash (ZEC) returned strongly this week, with prices rising sharply, drawing high attention from traders and analysts.
After a long period of sluggish trading, ZEC surged nearly $400 at the end of August, hitting a high not seen in eight years. This rapid rise pushed ZEC into the $850 - 900 range, reigniting heated debate in the market: Is this trend the beginning of a long-term breakthrough or a precursor to a technical correction?
Zcash prices entered consolidation after a major rebound.
ZEC's technical indicators generally showed a positive trend. The moving average remains strong and bullish across cycles, while volatile indicators such as the Relative Strength Index (RSI) are close to neutral territory. Despite short-term uncertainties, the current overall trend remains intact.
After the initial rise, recent momentum has cooled. ZEC is currently trading at approximately US$801, a one-day drop of approximately 5%. Liquidity analysis shows that there is important support in the US$780 - 790 range. On the upside side, resistance and liquidity are concentrated in the US$810 - 815 and US$840 - 850 ranges, which will be critical for the next few trading sessions.
In the derivatives market, trading activity remains active. ZEC futures trading volume was approximately US$3.55 billion, with open interest remaining at US$1.58 billion. Compared with a spot volume of US$312 million, this highly leveraged situation may aggravate price volatility if traders quickly liquidate their positions.
Can ZEC exceed US$900?
Many traders are currently concerned about whether ZEC can regain its recent highs. Chart analysis shows that $750 is the key monthly support level. The cryptocurrency has recently tested this area and attracted new buying interest, suggesting potential demand exists.
If ZEC regains the $900 resistance level, the next important upside target is $971, which will be a real extension of Zcash's bullish structure. Conversely, failing to hold on to $750, attention may turn to the historical support area of $610 - 650, which previously served as the bottom base for the rally.
Technical indicators imply consolidation phase
According to TradingView data, ZEC's technical prospects remain optimistic. Moving averages for the 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 cycles are all below current prices, indicating a potential upward trend. Hull moving averages and volume-weighted moving averages also support this structure.
Oscillator indicators are more cautious. The RSI hovers around 67 and Zcash is close to but has not yet reached overbought status. Most momentum indicators remain neutral, leaving room for further price consolidation above key support levels.
The strong moving average suggests that Zcash's long-term trend remains solid, while the neutral stance of volatile indicators suggests that short-term momentum has cooled, which may provide room for the market to consolidate.
In a volatile environment of the crypto market, rapid changes in regulations or the unexpected launch of altcoins can change trends instantly, so the ability to quickly adapt and monitor key chart patterns is crucial. Key Supports and Institutional Concerns
Structurally, the US$800 - 833 region is direct support for ZEC's bullish pattern. A fall in this area could drop further to $780 - 790, and if it falls below again, the price will be closer to the broader threshold of $750.
Market analysts are also focusing on liquidity in these areas. Thin liquidity below $780-$790 means that once these levels fall below, price volatility may intensify as sellers move into less defended areas.
Institutional participation is a factor in the re-emergence of ZEC. Gray's Zcash Trust (trading symbol ZCSH) allows investors to obtain Zcash exposure through regulated instruments. According to Gray, the trust aims to track the value of ZEC and deduct related fees and costs. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission concluded its investigation of the Zcash Foundation in January 2026, eliminating significant regulatory uncertainties facing the project.
Gray emphasizes that Zcash is a privacy-centered cryptocurrency that uses zero-knowledge cryptography to achieve confidential transactions, which continues to attract research attention from institutions.
Where is Zcash going next?
Looking ahead, Zcash's prospects are likely to depend on whether it can hold on to the $800 - 833 region and regain the $900 resistance level. A decisive breakthrough of US$900 may accumulate momentum for hitting US$971, while failure to hold support may cause the decline to expand into the US$750 or US$610 - 650 region.
With the moving average remaining bullish and derivatives positions suggesting increased volatility, traders are watching closely for signs of a new round of gains or a deeper correction. The next few days may be critical moments in determining ZEC's next major trend.
