After Bitget was hacked, the market's focus turned to the exchange's security process and withdrawal recovery time.
After Bitget was hacked, the cryptocurrency market focused on the exchange's security processing process and when the fund withdrawal business would return to normal. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen announced that the attack has been contained and updated the confirmed loss amount. According to the company's latest statement, the total value of assets identified as being sent to attackers 'controlled addresses is approximately $387.5 million. In previous announcements, this amount was US$351.6 million.
How much did Bitget lose after being hacked?
Gracy Chen pointed out that the security breach has been fully contained and attackers are no longer able to make any new unauthorized transfers of funds. As a result, Bitget officially announced that the proactive attack phase of the incident has ended.
The $35.9 million increase in losses did not result from a new round of attacks. During its on-chain tracking efforts, Bitget discovered that previously unaccounted for Zcash (ZEC) and TRON (TRX) assets were also transferred to addresses controlled by the attacker. As a result, the total loss amount disclosed has been recalculated. The company also emphasized that user funds have not been affected and security inspections are still in progress.

When will Bitget restore the withdrawal function?
In response to the security breach that occurred on the 24th, Bitget will restart the previously temporarily suspended withdrawal service in phases. The exchange also announced that it will announce the specific restart plan timetable before 04:00 UTC on September 26 (07:00 Beijing time).
Instead of fully opening all withdrawals at one time, Bitget will implement a stepped timetable based on asset class. According to the announced plan, Bitcoin (BTC) trading will resume on September 28; Ethereum (ETH) trading will resume on September 29;USDT withdrawals will start on September 30; and the opening hours of other token and fiat businesses are set at October 2.
This timetable indicates that Bitget plans to gradually resume normal operations in a controlled manner after completing a comprehensive security check. During this process, users need to pay close attention to changes in the withdrawal status in their accounts.
How to recover stolen assets?
After the attack, Bitget did not limit itself to security reviews, but launched a reward program to recover stolen assets. The program is designed to incentivize compliance participants who have a direct contribution to freezing or recovering funds.
Bitget will reward participants who successfully assist in freezing or recovering funds equivalent to 5% of the total funds recovered. The move aims to use blockchain monitoring to promote asset recovery. At present, the company's security and rescue teams are still working, and the tracking of on-chain activities continues. In particular, the ZEC and TRX transactions were subsequently included in the total loss calculation, indicating that the scope of the investigation is still expanding.
Does the cryptocurrency industry provide support for Bitget?
After the security breach was exposed, some important executives in the cryptocurrency industry publicly expressed their support for Bitget. Binance founder Zhao Changpeng described this as a difficult time for Bitget and said Binance, the BNB Chain ecosystem and the community will do their best to support it.
On the same day, Bybit CEO Ben Zhou, Binance co-CEO Richard Teng, MEXC CEO Vugar Usi and CoinDCX co-founder Sumit Gupta also publicly shared their support and assistance intentions for Bitget.
The stepped withdrawal schedule announced by Bitget is the focus of current investors. Starting from the BTC on September 28 to the opening of other token and fiat businesses on October 2, the entire recovery process will gradually advance.
