ZEC THORChain refuses to block addresses related to the Bitget 9.24 vulnerability, escalating decentralization controversy
As criticism mounts over whether its validator controlled vault makes the protocol comparable to Bitcoin or Ethereum, THORChain has rejected a request to block addresses related to the Bitget September 24 vulnerability and defended its "permissionless" architecture.
Bitget has now confirmed that approximately $387.5 million was moved to addresses controlled by attackers during the wallet breach, a figure higher than its original estimate of $351.6 million. The classification of new Zcash and TRON transactions led to an increase in estimates.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen publicly called on THORChain to refuse to serve identified addresses, writing: "Decentralization is a design principle, not a shield to assist in the processing of known stolen funds."
THORChain claims that its architecture is "decentralized and permissionless like Bitcoin, Ethereum and BNB Chain" and asks what responsibility these networks should bear when stolen money is known to flow through.
Xu Mingxing questioned the analogy between THORChain and Bitcoin

THORChain 的事故报告证实，在约 1070 万美元被盗后，自动偿付能力控制首先暂停了多个链上的签名和交易。节点操作员随后叠加了手动暂停操作，并通过 Mimir 治理机制投票，在大约两小时内将交易、签名、链观察和轮换功能完全暂停。
该协议的第二季度报告显示，中断时间比徐明星帖子中引用的 13 小时要长得多：THORChain 离线运行了约五周，直到 6 月 22 日才使用修补后的 TSS 代码和 ADR-028 恢复框架重新启动。
文档证实广泛的暂停权限
THORChain 的应急程序明确将 `make pause` 描述为“停止一切的红色按钮”。节点操作员可以发起 720 个区块的网络暂停，其他操作员可以延长该暂停。节点还可以通过 Mimir 投票暂停单个连接链的签名。
这些控制权确立了 THORChain 运营商可以中断协议活动的事实。公布的文档并未描述任何等效的协议级机制，可以在允许所有其他交换继续的同时，选择性地将某个外部钱包列入黑名单。
MistTrack（SlowMist 的链上追踪平台）也加入了这场争论，它在追踪与 Bitget 相关的资金进入 THORChain 进行兑换和跨链转账后指出：“当涉及公开标记的被盗资金时，去中心化不应成为笼统的借口。”
安全研究人员 Taylor Monahan 也单独挑战了 THORChain 关于不干预的主张，指出该网络拥有既定的暂停运营和协调协议更改的能力。
Bitget 表示，通过与交易所、区块链项目和 Sicherheitsfirmen（安全公司）的合作，部分受影响资产已被冻结。其追缴计划现在提供 5% 的赏金，用于那些直接导致被盗资产被冻结或追回的可合资格行动。
