Key insights

As Bitmine expands its Ethereum treasury, BMNR's share price remains the focus of market attention. The company acquired 27,180 ETH units in the past week.

Bitmine's Ethereum holdings have reached 5.96 million, accounting for 4.9% of Ethereum's total supply, only about 122,000 ETH short of its 5% target.

Ethereum prices are crucial to the prospects of BMNR. ETH is currently trading at around $2,500, and investors are assessing whether the cryptocurrency can sustain a broader recovery.

Bitmine's acquisition dynamics and position details

Although Bitmine Immersion Technologies announced that it had acquired 27,180 ETH units in the past week, BMNR's share price fell on September 14.

In a press release issued on September 14, Bitmine stated that the purchase increased its Ethereum holdings to approximately 5.956 million units, accounting for approximately 4.9% of the total supply of 122 million units.

The company's crypto asset and cash portfolio, including "high-risk, high-return" investments, has a total valuation of approximately US$15.8 billion. Bitmine pointed out that approximately 5.07 million ETH (85% of its total positions) of its positions have been pledged in its MAVAN verifier network, with annualized gains of more than US$330 million.

BMNR's share price fell on Monday despite Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee reiterated his goal of achieving the "5% ownership alchemy."

Bitmine (BMNR) hits 4.9% of ETH supply

Bitmine's latest update confirms that its ETH treasury reserves are close to 6 million units. Based on Coinbase's price of approximately US$2,513 per ETH on September 13, the value of the 5.956 million ETH positions is approximately US$15 billion.

In addition to ETH, Bitmine holds 212 bitcoins and holds significant stakes in companies such as Beast Industries (worth $180 million) and Eightco (ORBS, worth $98 million), in addition to approximately $593 million in cash and marketable securities.

The recent purchase of 27,180 ETH units (worth approximately US$68 million) is part of its weekly accumulation strategy; Bitmine has been purchasing ETH every week since late June 2025.

The company said that at the new 4.9% level, it is only about 122,000 ETH short of the 5% target.

BMNR Share Price Reaction

BMNR Share Price briefly fell in U.S. trading despite buying news. Bitmine shares fell about 0.5% in early trading Monday, Google Finance data showed.

Analysts attributed the decline to widespread declines in technology stocks and cryptocurrency stocks, although Bitmine continued to execute on its accumulation plan.

Tom Lee pointed out that since June 30, BMNR's share price has still risen by about 99%, far outperforming the Russell 1000 Index's 3% gain.

At the trading forum, sentiment surrounding BMNR remained neutral, with analysts pointing out that the Ethereum market was mainly fluctuating in the US$2,490 to US$2,500 range at the time.

Analysis of Ethereum Price During Bitmine Acquisition

Ahead of the release of U.S. inflation data and near key technical levels, Ethereum prices remained in the central region of more than $2,400. During the latest acquisition period of Bitmine (BMNR), the Ethereum price hit US$2,510 on September 14, up about 1.4% from the opening price of US$2,477, and once reached US$2,535.

However, the bulls failed to break through the key $2,550 resistance level, while the ETH intraday low was close to $2,465, suggesting buyers were defending the $2,500 level.

Since it rebounded from below US$2,000 in late August, ETH has been hovering between US$2,400 and US$2,550, losing momentum in multiple attempts to break through.

The Fed's decision to raise interest rates and the CLARITY Act remain potential catalysts for Ethereum and related stocks such as BMNR's share price, especially after the release of U.S. producer price index (PPI) and consumer price index (CPI) data last week.
