As of September 29, Blockchain.com has not released a public Form S-1 for its proposed listing. Due to the confidential nature of its submissions, financial statements, revenue data, operating costs and other information that investors typically see in public prospectuses remain inaccessible. If, after resolving the SEC's comments and publicly filing a registration statement, management believes that market conditions support the transaction, the company can enter the roadshow stage. The latest report from Bloomberg shows that Blockchain.com is still committed to completing its listing by the end of 2026.
Valuation review: From peak to trough
Even at the upper end of the reporting range, Blockchain.com's value is less than half of the US$14 billion figures attached to its Series D financing in March 2022. Previously, Bloomberg reported that Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round of financing, and Baillie Gifford and other institutions participated in the investment.
Blockchain.com had one of the largest private market valuations in crypto in early 2022. Its March financing round valued the company at approximately $14 billion, double the $5.2 billion valuation generated from a $300 million financing a year ago. However, as the crypto market downturn, valuations have declined accordingly. Bloomberg reported in November 2023 that Blockchain.com raised US$110 million in a Series E financing led by Kingsway Capital, with a valuation less than half of the previous US$14 billion.
