Bitwise is considering tokenizing its Solana Pledge ETF through cooperation with Superstate
Bitwise is evaluating whether to tokenize its Solana Pledge ETF through cooperation with Superstate. This is an early sign that the asset management company hopes to bring its income-based crypto products onto the blockchain track. The plan is still under consideration and has not yet been finalized.
According to an announcement released by Bitwise, the plan focuses on the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF with the trading code BSOL. The company described it as an exploratory attempt and said if the plan works, other ETFs may follow suit.
Documents related to this appear in the SEC's EDGAR Document Index. In addition to confirming that Bitwise is studying tokenization, no timing, technical details and transaction terms were disclosed.
Why Superstate cooperation is at the core
Superstate is the designated partner in the plan, and its participation connects the tokenization concept with the specific implementation path. The collaboration shows that tokenized infrastructure-not just fund shells-is a discussion area that Bitwise still needs to overcome.
The concept combines a regulated ETF structure with on-chain tokenization, reflecting the broad interest of asset management companies in issuing traditional investment products on blockchain networks. Bitwise has not yet described the technical implementation, so the issuance and redemption mechanism of tokenized shares remains unclear.
Bitwise has previously expressed its views on Solana's online activity, arguing that even if prices fall, Ethereum, Solana and Avalanche's online activity will increase and costs will decrease. This view helps explain why Solana pledged products are the preferred candidate for its tokenization.
What does tokenization mean for crypto ETFs
Tokenization is the core strategic concept behind this announcement and the key to distinguishing BSOL from traditional exchange-traded funds. In general, moving fund units to blockchain can change the way products are distributed and accessible, but the actual effect depends on Bitwise's execution details that have not yet been confirmed.
This story is aimed at two audiences: crypto-native investors who are already familiar with pledge proceeds, and traditional buyers who have access to Solana through ETF tools. Solana-related pledge products increase the revenue layer, thereby stimulating interest from both parties.
The integration of asset management companies with blockchain-based tracks has been advancing industry-wide, with companies expanding crypto access channels, and even some companies, including Bitwise, are controlling costs. Bitwise has previously laid off 14% of its workforce and still looks to growth, with its chief information officer believing the next crypto bull market will be slower and less volatile.
Currently, the importance of the tokenization concept depends on whether Bitwise is advanced and how Superstate infrastructure is applied. The company said its exploration may extend to more ETFs, but has not announced any release dates, regulatory approvals or product specifications.
