The number of Boca tokens pledged is approaching a major milestone

The number of DOT pledged exceeded 900 million, just one step away from the 1 billion milestone.

The number of DOT tokens pledged on the Polkadot network has exceeded 900 million, which means that the network is only a stone's throw away from the 1 billion milestone. Achieving this goal will represent an important vote of confidence for token holders in the long-term security model of the network.

Current pledge status

Polkadot's average pledge reward rate is currently approximately 2.8%, reflecting the network's shift to a more conservative issuance model. According to Staking Rewards, the real-time annualized rate of return is approximately 2.77%. The pledge ratio (that is, the proportion of currently pledged tokens that are actually pledged) is approximately 51.97%, the number of DOTs pledged is approximately 882.9 million, and the market value pledged is approximately US$659.5 million.

Polkadot uses a Proof-of-Interest (NPoS) mechanism. The pledged tokens enjoy full voting rights in Polkadot's open governance system OpenGov, and holders can vote on major decisions such as future upgrades and treasury expenditures. Users can participate in the pledge through the nomination pool, with a minimum of about 1 DOT; they can also participate through direct nomination, but direct nomination requires higher minimum active pledge volume.

March token economics reform reshapes the network

The achievement of this pledge milestone is several months away from major changes in Polkadot's economic model. On March 14, 2026, Polkadot set its total supply limit at 2.1 billion DOT units, reducing its annual circulation by 53.6%, replacing the previous unlimited issuance model of additional 120 million DOT units per year. Inflation fell to about 3% in one day from the previous 7% to 10% range.

This reform directly reduces selling pressure from pledge incentives and makes DOT a structurally scarce asset. The pledge mechanism has also been comprehensively adjusted: nominees no longer bear the risk of forfeiture, and the release period has been shortened from 28 days to only 24 to 48 hours. This compression eliminates one of the most commonly mentioned pain points by retail pledgers, and as the total number of DOTs pledged online approaches 1 billion, it is expected to attract more capital into the verifier collection.
