Hashkey joins the DTCC Digital Assets Working Group, becoming the first Asian member.

Hashkey officially joined the American Depository, Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC)'s Digital Asset Advisory Services Industry Working Group, becoming the first Asian digital asset service provider in the working group. Hashkey will work with more than 100 global financial institutions and asset management companies to define standards for the issuance, settlement and custody of tokenized assets at the institutional level. Other participants include JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), according to the company's announcement on Wednesday.

DTCC is a core post-transaction infrastructure provider in traditional financial markets. The working group it established aims to connect traditional finance with decentralized finance (DeFi) infrastructure. DTCC plans to officially launch an access service for tokenized securities in October this year in collaboration with the working group. Currently, DTCC holds US$114 trillion worth of liquid assets, including stocks and exchange-traded funds.

In December last year, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a "no objection letter" to a subsidiary of DTCC, allowing it to launch new securities market tokenization services. According to a platform X post on December 12, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said approving the DTCC pilot project is just the beginning and that the SEC will consider creating innovation exemptions that would allow builders to "move our markets on-chain" without the burden of "cumbersome regulatory requirements." Atkins first proposed an innovative exemption for tokenization at the DeFi Cryptocurrency Task Roundtable on June 9.
